Faisal, who used to post here, has a cool web site that details his trials and tribulations in importing a modern TVR:

I briefly searched on the internet and went to the links provided in this thread. What is the deal on the Ultima GTR's status as a kit car. Would a company be able to import the various TVR bodies with interiors and then put in a CARB, emissions compliant power plant, similar to the small block chevy that the GTR uses? I wonder what the tipping point is between a car that is disassembled and then reassembled (illegal) and one that is a legal kit car. The idea of getting some of the beautiful cars around the world available here has always interested me, I just don't know enough or have the money to find out.

that is correct, i dont understand why the united states makes it to hard for its citizens to import a sports car from another country, its just retard to go thru a bunch of paper work, customs and all that other crap, for me that is just ridiculous, they should make it more simple, who cares if they don't have airbags?

Its idiotic, you are allowed to purchase rifles and such but not allowed to import cars such as the Mclaren F1 in without a huge amount of headaches.

Totally agree. I thought that the Mclaren F1 was sold in the U.S. that is ridiculous as well, who cares If someone gets killed/harmed in a car with no airbags and all that crap? I mean if we get injured, then thats what we get we payed for a little taste of europes greatest sports cars then the govt shouldn't care about the drivers........got a little too excited sorry.

    Thanks
