I was simply curious if there are any tvr's in the United States, and if so how hard are they to import? And lastly do they manufacture any left hand drive models?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

There are a lot of TVRs in the US. Unfortunately, the last model that was imported in any number to speak of was the 280i series. All the US cars were lhd. And, yes, TVR builds their current line-up in lhd for the lhd markets.

There are a few here in the US, and even some on this board.

Yep, he was kind enough to give me a ride (I think he is keeping a low profile) and it was a rather interesting car..... pretty fast and the design is rather unique, particularly the interior.....

TVRski are soon going to be street legal in the States. It was one of the first goals of the new management.

I've seen a few running around here in San Diego over the years. Mostly 70-80's but I seen a late 90's early 2000's at a show and shine about a year ago. Very cool cars.

Driven a Cerbera and a Tuscan. There are obviously loads of them in the UK. Beautiful looking cars although its a car that will always be prone to rattles and squeaks etc. Quality of build is not its plus point but then it is hand built. Large gaps in the seals around windows etc are always one of the things that annoys me on these vehicles. Gearboxes are a nightmare too.

If you are interested, just make sure you do a lot of research into them. Older Cerberas and pre-2001 Tuscans i believe should be avoided due to major design changes.

    All the best

Traditionally TVRs were produced as a plaything of a man who liked cars a certain way.

They weren't developed in the same way that a Toyota was, so they tended to be very exciting, but break down a lot.

US buyers tended to value things like reliability and customer service which weren't TVR strong points.

The new owner is trying to keep the core values, while still meeting the expectations of US buyers.

Nope, they developed a new straight six and V8 motor. Word has it designed by the same bloke who did the V12 in the Mclaren F1!

I've clearly read that they wanted to return to the states. In fact they just returned to France. So, I don't see how you claim it is incorrect.

M3, I have read the same thing. The TVR company was just recently bought by a some millionaire\billionaire (cannot recall his name at the moment) and he has eyes on TVR being back in the USA...
If this eventually happens, i would love to get my hands on a TVR tuscan S..

TVR was bought by a young Russian, called Nicolai Smolenski.
    If I remember well.

They have talked about it. It is incorrect because a) smolenski doesn't want to pay to bring it to the US, b) the terms he wants to have someone else do it make Peter Wheeler look generous, and c) the guy's a blithering idiot.

Hopefully the company will go into receivership and he'll lose interest. That way someone else can actually save them.

i was under the impression that ole' wheeler wouldnt sell to anyone if it wasn't for the best of the company.granted, smolenski hasn't actually exhibited any form of change towards the company(and their current line-up,
as confusing as porche's),but the motoring press seem to state that
build quality and after-sales service are on the up.let's just hope tvr,one of the jewels of performance, enter more markets and have better success in the near future.
