Just read this..... TVR - the countrys biggest independent sports carmaker - announced it is to close its UK factory with the loss of 260 jobs. TVR stunned union officials by disclosing that its plant in Blackpool will cease production in six months time. Half the firms staff had already been told to stay home from today after production plunged from 12 cars a week to just two. TVR was bought two years ago by Russian millionaire Nikolay Smolensky
They are going to close but it is only temporary. They are looking for a new place to produce their cars. I bet it will be in Eastern Europe somewhere. TVR was one of the last true british car manufacturers out there. It is sad that they will not be the same ever again. I feel bad for the British employees who will lose their jobs to lower priced workers. That is the sign of the times unfortunately.
No, but saddened. It's a shame; though they've nearly always operated close to the brink. I've been involved with TVRs for over 30 years and started the US/North American Club back in the '70s, only having recently turned it over to the current President, Marshall Moore. I've visited the factory many times over the past 30 years and have met with every owner of TVR from Trevor up until Nikolai.....it's a shame....really sorry to hear that.
It is a shame. I really had high hopes for Mr. Smolensky to bring TVR around and ultimately get it back to the US. My hopes of ever having a Sagaris imported into the states (legally or not) seem to be fading. Just as TVR was really getting good...
