I'm with you there. I think the new and upcoming cars are technological wonders, but not something I really want to own or drive. I sold a 993 cab in late 2004, and as soon as I drove a 996 cab I realized what a bonehead move that was.

Actually the CGT is a very clean running car with a lot of electronics. The age of the analogue car ended back in the '70s. (Try smogging a carb'ed Ferrari 308 in California...)

What is amazing is that these "cleaned-up", EPA-compliant, uber-safe sports cars can blow the doors off old machinery like a Countach, Boxer, 930, etc., as well as outhandle and outperform them. And, you stand a decent chance of walking away from a crash with all body parts intact.

What's the total production number for the Turbo S?

 

I believe that 182 was built for the US market.

I'm partial to speed yellow also, particulary in TT. Here's my old 996.

I also liked the traffic cone orange in this 911T I once owned.
