    ...on a RC airplane :)

I'm getting my DC-3 out this spring and am prepping/psyching myself to fly it again after only 2 previous flights (one successful and the other not). The dak is an 7' wingspan with flaps, retracts, alerons, rudder, elevator and independent throttle control.

Here's the problem. While I can get engine rpm synced at the low and high range, they accelerate at different rates. Takeoff is very hairy becuse of this imbalance. While I have given up on trying to balance engine acceleration I was hoping to get some takeoff tips to compinsate for this engine problem.

    Thanks.

You need some way to let the motors get to full rpm before you release it. Think about a latch that hooks the tail until you can get to full power and the motors are making equal rpm's and then let it go. Once you have full power the airflow over the tail surfaces should allow you to control it as soon as it gets rolling.

For ~$70 you can buy an Engine Synchronizer. Money WELL spent.

They have master and slave versions and independent versions which I like better. google is your friend for current models.

EDIT: a couple of google searches tells me they might be a few bucks higher than I remembered.

Had no idea these were an rc option for twins. Sounds like my option.

Thanks for the responses. I'll let you know how I make out.

There's a 4 engine RC B-29 that I've seen videos of that has engine sync. Video shows taxi, take-off, etc.

Much larger, must be a 10' span at least.

Couldn't find it right now... I'll keep looking...

Friend also said that someone's done a huge RC B-36, but I haven't seen or heard anything else about that.
