I'm sure everyone has noticed the Bob Norwood Twin Turbo 91 Testarossa on Ebay. Item #320231875221 Comments? Projected value? 860 horsepower? Sacreligious?
If the twin turbo package is norwood (the engine cover appears so) then it's probably the business. The worst sacrelidge are the seats and steering wheel.
Lamarossa's inspiration? Doesn't need the floormat logos -- has enough yellow accents (the seats are OK, but I'm with FarmerDave on the steering wheel). Even if you can live with this emission-wise where you are located, if it didn't have a way to mount catalytic converters into the exhaust stream (at least temporarily), it could be trouble if it moves state-to-state and needs a visual initial inspection (even where they don't emission test) -- so would need to deduct for value to correct if that's true and this is an issue (I can't tell from the photos). Wouldn't surprise me if this TR spent the rest of its life in TX (but gauge your own emission situation for yourself) -- JMOs.
The cats can be put back on and made emissions friendly (at least this is what I was told when I looked into it). I thought of doing the turbo route, but have decided against it for several reasons. My plan is to eventually rebuild the engine with some internal mods (pistons, cams, port and polish heads, and efi) and let that be it. Should take it to about 475hp and I believe with some mods to the differential this should be stout enough to survive. John
He doesn't mention anything about upgrading the tranny, brake, or suspension. Still, it's yellow so I gotta bid on it, although I doubt it'll be in my price range. Wish me luck, by the way is it belong to someone here? Thanks. Nguyen
The transmission has been gone through at least once on this car that I know of. It was previously owned by a North Texas guy that developed several computer games named John Romero. Some of the Texas board members will remember seeing this car on consignment with Exotic Car World before the current owner bought it from them.
Did you notice the yellow TR at Exoctic Cars in San Diego that just recently just showed up on the net? No price though. Here's the link... http://www.chooseyouritem.com/exotics/files/120000/120095.html
Wow! I just checked it and it has already been sold. It hadn't been posted for more than 2 weeks. Sorry
I think this car looks pretty good. I would definitely re-upholster the seats back to original style and I would DEFINITELY change out the steering wheel, but otherwise it looks good. I would probably back down the pressure on the turbos in an attempt to save the transmission, but if the car goes for a good price, I am sure the next owner will have a lot of fun. Note to next owner: keep an extra $10-15k in your savings account for future repairs David Best of luck on your bidding!
