I am mightily tempted. But holiday just won't permit this year. What about you coming down for the Tuscanny run? You just need an extra day before and after. Quite welcome to stay with me or Andrea I'm sure.

Edit. Just read your post properly, I thought you were talking about Scotland....whats with an Andermatt repeat?

    Thanks Simon, great pictures!!

Let me also add that driving the beast in these conditions is definitely NOT easy. There's so much torque that on cold tarmac (also still covered in salt from winter) the tires spin in the first 3 gears quite happily if you give it more than 20% throttle!!

I had a really scary moment, when on a twisty country road I passed a Citroen crawling at 50Km/h. I was in second gear and I just floored it. Within 100m I was doing about 130Km/h, but the road wasn't straight... I got the 550 into a kind of 4-wheel slide into a seriously tight curve while trying to slow it down without swapping ends on a cold, dirty tarmac that I soon realised didn't provide enough grip for a 500-HP monster hurled at over 100 Km/h!! You can imagine this turned quite a few of my hairs white. While it was happening I was already thinking "****! Now what do I tell the insurance?" but suddenly the car regained composure and stayed on the road. An excursion into a snowy field on my first outing would have been quite embarassing... but in Sport mode does the damn ASR EVER kick in, or does it wait until you've peed in your pants???

Conclusion: 500 BHP are way too much for cold, icy, dirty tarmac. I think it will be a VERY long time before I have the balls to switch traction control off!!

    Whats that  ???
    .....the right foot?

Just kidding, I know what you are talking about Andrea. Its definitiv too much torque!!!!! I drove my beast last year in January, February and got my lesson!!! Now, I`m still waiting for the spring:)...never ever on snow & ice.

    I was. I mean I did. I mean I meant Scotland!

I am sooooo tempted for Tuscany but not sure that budget/time will allow it. Remind me of the dates please? The three day bit in S Gimignano could be an option - is that over a weekend?

Andrea hasn't quite fixed the dates yet but we think end of june time. If you speak now I'm sure the 3 days in San Gimignano could be organised to suit you travelling down. It was stunning last year. Go one Marc, you know you want to :D

The dates are actually quite fixed - the hotels are booked and it is not very easy to rearrange everything. As Simon said, check my new post which includes all the details you need to know.

Great pics, guys... just a pity we don't live nearby (especially when snowing, I wouldn't favour a 2hours+ drive). Would have LOVED to join you, that would have been a 3rd black car.

    Shall we start a separate thread to build a black-cars-club :) ?
