I love the commentary, "Let's see how stupid these guys are..."

    Well, they didn't disappoint...

    LOL! :D :D :D

Pretty dumb to race like that on public streets. Although, on a more technical note... how the heck did that guy on the right completely lose control like that? Do you think he hit a pothole or had some other issue with the road surface? And don't most new cars have traction control? I just can't quite figure out how he managed that one.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

He lost control because the car has torque, lots of it. Way more than he can use safely. He spun his rear tires when he shifted is the most likely thing.

I guess this is a good advert for traction control?

It wouldn't happen on a NISSAN GTR, I can tell you!

Corvettes have had traction control since 1992, in fact they were one of the first cars to have it. The guy who lost it undobutly turned his off. The traction control has three positions, on, comp mode and off.

The traction control in the on mode is somewhat restrictive in that if you get deep into it, it will slow you down. Some prefer to turn it off, or use the "competiton mode", which allows more wheel spin, but still won't break loose like that car did. In this case it was clearly turned totally off and the amount of power, coupled with a not very grippy surface caused him to lose it.

One thing that people forget is that a stock Corvette, even the most pedestrian model, is a seriously fast car. People don't appreciate them because they are common, but properly driven a totally stock C6 can get into the low 12 second range in the quarter at nearly 120 mph. Lay your foot in it and these cars are capable of breaking the tires loose, all the way through second gear. Any car that fast demands respect and if you aren't careful you can end up looking like this guy in very short order.

Another fine example as to why you shouldn't street race.
