So I have an Autel device for reading my codes, and when looking for clutch stats (to do the calculation), I have two different TCUs:

    Marelli Semi Automatic Gearbox
    System CFC301

    and

    Marelli Semi Automatic Gearbox
    System CFC231

I understand they’re two different systems… Is the car supposed to have both? If not, why would it? And if it is, which do I use the numbers from for clutch life measurement?

To be safe I’ve been using the lower number… But should there even be two sets? And if so, how different should/could those be? Would it be normal to have almost 20% difference between them?

The software should correspond to the TCU you have .. normally (I will explain later) the 2008 and greater you should use 3.01

    Why I say normally
. sometimes even a 2007 needs to use the 3.01( probably transition period)

The way I figure it out ( even model in data stream is not reliable) is to look at some numbers and see which version makes more sense ..like pressures, clutch positions, voltage etc

It will become very clear when you look at numbers

Thanks for the help! So follow up question… My car is a 2006, so I should likely use the 231? And out of curiosity, do you know WHY it would have two systems?

You should start with the 2.31 and see that the numbers make sense

You don't have two systems ..it is the way the software works .. it just lists it twice .. one TCU in the car

PERFECT! That’s what I’ve been doing, using 231 and using the since the numbers are 20% different, that number seems more accurate.

That answered it. I’ll keep this post up for the next confused soul who asks my fun question :)

CFC231 and CFC301 are different generations of TCU hardware and firmware. On a label on the TCU. Dominick already knows that. This is a CFC231 TCU, although for an F133E (575M).
