I acquired both of these a while back.

The Paul Newman special isn't that hard to find.

The 288 is relatively hard to find.

The GTO is especially wonderful for a Hot Wheels model. Lots of surprising detail like the gold exhaust piping and detailed engine. The interior is especially true as well with good chrome highlights.

These are the pride of my current collection.

    Here's a sample

    166 MM Barchetta
    250 LM
    250 GT California Spider
    250 GT Berlinetta (Lusso)
    365 GTB/4 Daytona

Your Newman Daytona is great, were did you find it?

The Kyosho Competition Daytonas ran out of the first run.

Apparently they are making a 2nd run but as yet they are pretty rare.

Might be able to find "NOS" at the smaller retailers.

Not cheap though... easily 4 or 5 times the cost of a Hot Wheels car.

I've got a Daytona Comp for sale if anybody's interested...it was in a thread a while back (title contained "Lego") - $65 + actual shipping.

Both are very nice. I'm going to buy the Kyosho Daytona Comp pretty soon I think.

You might want to wait for the Thomson version.

Does anyone know when it's supposed to come out? I've got the Newman 365 comp, but I want the Thompson to go with it....

I had someone look at the 288 and ask where they could get one.

    I laughed of course.

I had a cursory look at ebay and the prices asked are very very strong...

    USD$100 and up.

Wow...that's amazing - I bought mine last year at a mall in Portland, OR at...of all places....one of those places that sells knives, swords, etc. He had some diecasts behind the counter, and the 288 stuck out like a sore thumb. $30!
