    Hi everybody!

I have an early 1988 TR with knockoffs, but in inches instead of the metric rims - owned it since 1994. Unfortunately, I 've had a tough time finding work for the last 18 months or so, but I paid cash for the TR back in 1994 - so, needless to say, money is tight.

I have discovered that the paint on the mirrors and the engine cover didn't hold up nearly as well as the paint on the metal parts of the car to the point where I have bare spots on one of the mirrors and the paint on the engine cover is really faded compared to the rest of the car.

    Here are my 2 questions:

    1. Are the clips that hold the inside panel on the mirror bracket readily available? If so, where?

    2. I am considering ordering some of the matching spray paint that several companies offer and repaint the mirrors and the engine cover. Has anyone done this before? If so, what paint supplier would you suggest?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give me!

I would just leave it.. The spray paint would make it look worse.

I have painted small items such as a mirror in the past with much success.

I have gotten paint and clear coat from this company and it matched very well.

One thing...................it's all in the prep work.

Sand and clean and take your time.

Hell, I once painted a car door with a spray can and clear coat, then buffed it out and even a body guy buddy was surprised.

    IMO, give it a shot.

I can make rattle-can paint look factory.
Prep is paramount to finish, application is the other half of the equation.
    It's paint, albeit, without hardener.
