A pair (similar) of the big block 9,3 liter V12 offshore engines availible for sale. These are the reliable 630 hp / Max 5.550 rpm. version intended for the US market in the 80-ies labeled MerCruiser / Lamborghini and initilly markered and sold by the biggest marine engine supplier in the world, Mercury Marine. The engines are in very good condition. They also have the style/geberations of headers which gives the best sound. (6 into 1 pipe). They are of course stainless steel and water cooled. Located in Norway. Price 55k USD. Please send e-mail to enquire about the engines as I am not on Fchat every day.

We just bought a boat with one Lamborghini just like these, and the engine runs smooth as silk and has a phenomemal throttle response. I have run high performance speedboats with all kinds of engines, and these engines are different from antyding else. The sound is like an orchestra!

I add a link to show you the sound:

    Thanks.

Eric, these are not all Lambo-powered are they? Some/many are Merc 1500’s right?
Also a few AMG motors? Victory is Lambo, as is Norway??

Victory ran both diesels, V8s and V12 Lambo engines. But the later years, Victory Team bought the old stuff from Lamborghini because when Volkswagen/Audi bought Lamborghini, they decided to quit the marine engines, and Victory then started to make their own «Victory V12» engines (Lambo construction with some modifications). The V8s were both Sterling from Detroit who mainly used Merlin and Dart blocks for their race engines, and in 2005 when Mercury Racing successfully launched the HP1075SCI V8, many teams started to use this engine in a «Class 1» spec with the restrictors of the homologated rules because these were much cheaper to maintain and had very good power with 9,1 liter displacement and twin screw compressors opposed to the V12s with 8,2 liter naturally aspirated. The Lambos however (in my opinion) were faster because they could spin at almost 9.000 rpm. (lasted one or max two races) at peak of 1.250 hp. and were very fast on the straight aways since the Merc engines ran Max 6.500 rpms. Many boats also used SeaTec inline 6 twin turbo diesels, also Italian engines. Some were very fast too. They had a different more «silent» sound and usually broke down. The glamour in Europe around these races were outstanding and it is now almost unthinkable to organize something like that again now when everything relates to environmental right or (mostly) wrong and nothing is possible anymore. The noise level was out of another world and it was great fun. I was a teenager and in my early 20-ies back then and were part of the tecnical organizer through the race boat club of the Oslo fjord! We handeled all the bouys, wet-pit area, race control and food and gear for 50 «guard» boats run by voulenteers. It was great fun because all the guys with fast boats were working to make the event a reality. There were however some who thought it was wrong to work for free to let the super rich play with their race boats. One time I had to take a left wing young woman from the «Norwegian Bird Association» out in the fjord so they could count the birds before and after the event...... There was a clausul in the permission from the city to organize, that they could get their «case» heared and make sure the bird life still continued. Biggest and most idiotic action in history! How do you count 500-1000 flyging birds in the sky...? Typical socialist activity. I wish the race could return because it was a very spectacular event which drew 2-300.000 spectators from all over the country. In 2000, the Ferrari and Maserati dealer was the main sponsor and suddenly, there were these high end cars everywhere. Back then Maserati was very exclusive and the 3200 GT was a very sexy new car from Maserati. It sold quite well and was and still is a very beautiful car. I had one a year and it was great fun! These races are still being practiced many places in America, but under another sanctioning body (set of rules) than in Europe. UIM (Union International Motonautic) based in Monaco since the early 1900s were the body taking care of the homologation and so on for the rest of the world.

I attach a few other videos...:

    Beautiful engines!

Great story and thanks for sharing the videos. The Offshores once raced in Texas, both Galveston and Corpus Christi, but as you mention "times have changed".
Still, there was a VIP Suite at F1 in Austin, on a hunch I went in, and there were the "Crazy Norwegians" as they call themselves....throttle man is from Texas.

The boat did do some demo runs in Clear Lake last year at the IOGP.
