    I have two (among many along the line) problems that are minor but annoying and am looking for someone that may have solved them;

    1. My sun visors keep falling down. I made a special screw driver to fit the slotted screw that appears to control them but can't get but a little movement and little results. I tried velcro patchs but the glue will not hold for long even the 3M double-sided tape.

    2. My outside driver and passenger door electric mirrors also fall. The electrics work fine but I can not see any way to get them from folding down especially if I am on a rough road.

    Any ideas or solutions?

    The mirrors can be tightened. There's a small cover plate at the base of the mirror that you can (carefully) pry off. The tightening allen head screw is behind the cover.

    It is not the base of the mirrors that is moving. I know how to adjust the allen screw to hold them firmly. I am talking about the movable mirror itself that flops down as I drive.

    I believe that is what he is talking about. Remove the plastic cover and there is an allen screw that holds he upper (Mirror) portion to the base. It flops down with that screw as a pivot. Hold the mirror horizontal and tighten the screw. It is quite common.

    When I removed the mirrror from the door by releasing the set screw that holds it to the base mounted to the door, I see two philips head screws that pass through a rectangular plate. This plate has a hole through which the wires pass that control the electric mirror. I withdrew these philips screws and I can separate the mirror from the base but I cannot see any adjustment to tighten the pivot point of the mirror body. When I again attached the base, I made sure the two philips screws were very tight but this did not seem to affect how realitively easily the mirror body pivots. I am not talking about the mirror lens itself but rather the entire plastic body that hold the mirror. I have not taken it out since it is raining here in New York but I doubt I have solved the problem. Maybe Gorilla Glue once its in the right position !!!!

    Take off the other cap on the mirror and you will find an allen (hex) head bolt. Tightening that bolt will eliminate your drooping issues.

    I am not sure we are talking about the same brand of electric door mirrors - Vitalloni ?

    Then you are correct there may not be an adjustment. I will let others with more information/experience with the Vitaloni mirrors chime in on whether or not your problem can be corrected.

    The allen wrenched screw/bolt lies in a horizontal plane, where as the screws that attach the mirror to the door itself are vertical. Allen wrench is inserted from the front of the mirror mount.

    Could be different on these earlier cars, but that's the way it works on a 328.

    The older mirrors are different than those found on the 328. There is a pot metal retainer that attaches to the door that the mirror base fits over. You then use a small screw driver to tighten a set screw at one end to firmly attach the mirror base to the door. I have seen picture of the 328 mirrors and , although similar, there are differences. I quess the gorilla glue is beginning to look better. This is the type of fix-it I am often forced to use on my 53 Austin Healey 100-4 BN1 and to a lesser extent on my 63 Jag. 3.8 XKE coupe. I was hoping to get away from that with my Ferraris - go figure !!!

    My 1976 - 77 sun visors are retained by snaps in the ceiling, when was this changed???

    They DO tighten up on the carrier bar, with the screws that are visible....

    The 82 308GTSi has no snaps to hold the visors. My car has not been messed with too much plus my mechanic has another 82 that just got out of strorage and this has no snaps either.

    The screws that hold the visor to the bar are strange, They come to a sharp point at the end and this point protrudes through the round nut. The nut has a slot in it but you must first grind a slot in a small screw driver to span the point on the screw. It is difficult to get a good grip on the slotted nut and simultaneously turn the screw. I cannot get it any tighter and the damn thing still folds down particularly on rough roads. I imagine the foan has deteriorated over the years and no longer grips the metal rod that the visor is attached to. This winter I am having the fabric around the rear window redone and I will have the shop see if they can come up with a solution. I had the entire interior redone last year with the exception of the rear fabric and liner on the targa top - this will be done this winter.

    I drove a 78 that didn't either. I remember because the owner pointed out that he has had trouble and tightened the screw as far has he could

    The same visor system is used on various Fiats and the Bertone X1/9s I have had some success with removing the visor, pulling out the supporting shafts and roughening them up with course sandpaper with the scratches parallel to the shaft then reassemble be careful not to over tighten the screws as they will snap, sometimes before it quits flopping. You can also replace the screws with a small hex nut and bolt-- but is not original look at that detail.
