Thought a few of you may find these old cans interesting. I was cleaning out some cabinets in my garage and found them rusting there.

I bought three of these in 1975 when a VW bug backed over the nose of my GT at a party. At that time no paint US automotive paint color line could match this bright red since they did not have the correct mixing tints. This was a few years before Porsche came out with their Guards Red so Roso Chiaro was about the brightest red in the US at the time.

In 2005 when I was trying to decide what color I wanted to repaint my GT I opened one up and did a spray out and found it a bit too orange for my tastes. In fact, I was thinking about not painting my GT red since I found it too common. I must have done about a dozen spray-outs of many shades of red and other colors. My friends got very tired of me carrying around my spray outs and every time I saw them I would ask their opinion of my newest selections.

About the time I was going to spray it a shade of burgundy that I saw on an ISO Grifo A3/C Bizzarrini, I found the PPG Global line of paints and their Rosso Chiaro 190 has more blue in it, and the spray out really popped in the sun.

Every time I look at my GT I am happy I went with that color. I am also happy I changed the sheet metal to the Euro look even though I knew in the future it would be considered Blasphemy by the New World Order of buyers. But I have owned my GT since 1974 so the new owner can change it back since I have all the original sheet metal and parts to convert it back.
