Guys 1) Did the targa storage cover on the 328 come with a storage bag for when not in use? 2) Do all of the three round air vents on the dash top swivel around? Thanks for any input...
I can only answer the second question. All three vents swivel. One of mine was stuck.I removed the vent and found that the dash vinyl was wedged in the vent preventing it from swivelling.I corrected this problem and they all swivel now
There is no listing for such a thing in the owners or other manuals associated with my 328 and no such thing was present. All original items came with my car - including the strange little service light - still wrapped as originally delivered with the car. So I'm confident there was no cover for the cover. Yes, the vents all swivel and, for best ac, should be pointed at the blue dots (toward the windshield, NOT toward you). One of mine was stuck due to years of vinyl treatment working it's way into the joint. I sprayed some WD40 on the area where the vent touches the vinyl and then carefully worked the vent back/forth until it released.
Thanks Mike/Guys.. One of my vents is stuck so I will try with WD40 and gently work it! Thanks for letting me know about the storage bag, It seems strange that they were not protected. An easy item for a trimmer to make. Thanks all...
My advice: keep those vents closed and don't mess with them - don't even take the chance. That plastic is very brittle after years in the sun... and if it breaks you are SCREWED. Ask me how I know..... Jedi
It's old plastic so just don't force them. Once you get them moving they can go any direction. Mine swivel around just fine. Any good upholstery shop can make a pouch for your targa top.
Jedi I know thats why I sought clarification first!! I have one which is just not budging... Not going to force it so will keep squirting wd40 ... and hope for the best!!!!
Work a thin feeler gauge between the edge of the vent and the vinyl. They will come loose eventually and once that occurs, as noted, they rotate very easily. OTOH, since the best position for AC is toward the windshield (blue dots on vent surround), if they happened to be "locked" in that position it wouldn't matter much whether they could rotate or not. The ac is much less effective with the vents pointed in any other direction.
