I used to run the K2's about 34 psi front and 32 rear, both cold pressure. An acquaintance of mine, have the same setup as you, I'll shoot him an email and see what he runs. It's also a question of personal preference. My brother likes his tyres running at high pressure, but I feel what he likes gets to "loose" for me. At any rate, somewhere between 34-35 for the fronts and 32-33 for the rears is a good place to start imo.
Makes sense. 34F and 32R sounds like the F12 that runs the same tire setup ... my 599 runs 35F 35R at the moment and the car felt a little loose in the front could also be because of the K2 specs or the weather as it was quite cold today, or both ... I will lower both rear and front to the F12 specs and see what happens. Would be interested to know what your friend has. Cheers, Olivier.
Just got word back about pressure. He runs F34.5 - R33.0 so slightly more than I used to run. What does the F12 run?
F12 34.8 psi F, 31.9 R with MPSS. 35 and 32 should work, since the other numbers are just the mathematical conversions of 2.4 and 2.2 Bar.
Olivier, Would like to see the before & after shots- What do you think of the wheel/tire upgrade? Mine are on my 612 OTO & I did do the 255 K2's up front as mentioned, but my car still at shop for other services, so no drive yet- I like that there's more caliper to look at though I was very unimpressed with the standard set-up on Pirellis. The car could never reach it potential in handling and the rear end broke loose all the time under power. I can tell you the GTO wheel boxes were so light, I was amazed when i lifted one. So even though my last 612 had the same upgrade in MPSS & tire size, I can't wait to go for a spin & feel the difference these wheels add & I will explore Taz's tire pressure recommendation as well (Thanks Taz). I'm curious to know- What's your experience now that you're back on the road with yours? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have not been driving a lot since the upgrade. I definitely like the look and the car feels a little lighter under hard acceleration if that makes sense ... The GTO wheels are lighter by 11kg in total which is great, I also have titan bolts and MPSS and I guess the weight gain is starting to show here. The only thing is the 255 in the front look a tad small for the wheels but that's only because I am a bit of a perfectionist ...
Olivier- She is beautiful. Rotating mass is the worst kind of unsprung mass, so she could indeed feel lighter on her feet, and the MPSS tires definitely help that feeling. Love them on my 575M.
Terry how would you compare MPSS to the P Zero Corsa System.....? Also what a beautiful 599. So sinister yet elegant in black.
Olivier- I LOVE those wheels on your car- The 255 don't look too small for those wheels, in fact the wheels are within the Michelin prescibed wheel width for the 255's. They really fill out the fenders on my car and they look Dynamite on yours! I love the way the wheels match your roof- I prefer black cars and yours looks Awesome Thanks for sharing
Terry, Not that any of us will ever get to explore, but while rotating mass is lousy, it does do wonders for top speed
Nicholas- The MPSS tires are the best of the high performance summer street tires that are very good in rain too and have about a 300 wear rating. The P Zero Corsas are DOT approved track tires, stick like glue, wear like an eraser with a 60 tread-wear rating, and are not too good in the rain. For many Ferrari owners, the 60 tread-wear rating is not an issue because they do not put that many miles on their Ferraris each year. If they will be driven at all in temperatures below about 40F, the Corsas are not a good choice. They were OEM equipment on many of the Ferrari special models like the 360 CS and 575M HGTC, but when Ferrari brought out the 599 GTO, they used MPSS tires with cut down tread depth instead of the Corsas.
