well the tsunami has stopped supply of the Toyos I enjoy and need a new set of R spec that would be as good Dunlop ?? Michy ? the 888s are now selling for $470 each when they use to be just over $300 when they first came out, no problem with the price but I think they are just pushing the price high because they can
I think you might find the sizes a problem if you want to run 245's on the rear. I'm going back to a top of the line road tyre next, no more R rated for Horsey. The 888's will go on my Clubby when it's ready.
Dunlop don't have a 245/45/16ZR listed http://www.dunloptyres.com.au/dotCMS/TyreDetailAction?website=DMS&websegmentcode=MOTORSPORT&websegmentcode2=H20&mtpcode=82010&from=nPerPage will probably have to drop down to 205 and 225
I've run Dunlop R's in the past and really liked them. Surprisingly good in the wet and predictable in the dry. They seem to stay soft for a very long time too. The smaller sizes will probably cost you 3 seconds a lap.
also suggest you talk to Tempe tyres in Sydney about Falken Azenis - the closest thing to your Toyos.
John Yokohama Advan AO48, on special at Tirerack , $888 US plus shipping, very soft comp tire, good for track days, not going to last that long, fully road legal, similar tread to the 888's (UTQG of 60) (Note that this is the same type of tire that delaminated on my 355C so I won't be buying another set ) Or Hankook Ventus R-S3, they have a UTQG of 140 ( which is still pretty soft,) Tirerack $444 US plus shipping, (this is what I'm going to fit to the GTB to replace the Bridgestone SO-2's) M
Moretts I think you are over tyreing the car IMO. I ran the Dunlops(225 & 205's) at Mallala and found them to be fine. Guarantee you'll pick up 3 seconds mate.
Bloody wet and slippery Tristan. Pushed a bit too hard too early and went off at hayshed (turn8). A good 100m slide sideways towards the wall. Left track at about 130kph. Missed the well by that much. Good news is that the miss has gone so that's the main thing we wanted to achieve today. Hoping track drys out a bit to do some decent laps. Only managing 2.20 ATM.
Well you are at least gaining more experience in varying conditions. Good to hear that no damage was caused to you or your car and that the miss has gone.
