Hello guys, Got a problem with my 488 tyre temperature while driving. No matter if its a slow drive or a little bit of racing fun I always have 7-10C temperature difference on my front wheels. Driver side tyre always warmer. At first I thought it might be due to a fact that Im the only person in the car and that the weight balance is shifted to driver side but this situation still occured with a passanger with a similar weight. Pressure at cold tyres is equal of course so thats not it. Driving different roads and still the same. Do You observe this in Your 488? Is it acceptable? Normal maybe? Any advices if its not a typical thing? P.S its a quite new car, 2017 with 8k km
I experienced exactly the same. I stopped using the tire temp screen as a default and, until I saw your post, hadn’t thought about it since. Outta sight, outta mind. Couldn’t believe or reconcile it, so instead, I rely on the Race Mode screen to tell me when the tires are sufficiently warm. Good enough for me.
I can't find the thread right now, but I have read the 458 vents heat out the front, driver's side, so the temperature differential is pretty normal. Hopefully someone else will come along with the specific details, but I am pretty sure it is normal. I am guessing the 488 is the same.
It is 100% normal. All 488s do this. There's a radiator there and the hot air goes past that wheel. The difference is not enough to cause issues. If you track the car and really get heat into the tyres, the difference will be less. But at any rate, even when cruising along, both front tyres will get within normal operating temp. Don't change tyre pressure to try and "solve" it. Few cars will ever have the exact same temp left to right and 5-10 degrees is well within acceptable differences.
It has to do with the radiators ahead of each wheel. They do not throw off the same amount of heat. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
