Hi all, I'm about to order new tyres for my Modena - which I use on road and track. Any advice on what to fit / not to fit ? Thanks Franck
If you don't drive a lot of miles, the Toyo RA-1s in 225/40x18 and 275/35x18 are a great compromise tire. It's an R-compound tire that really shines on the track and yet wears well enough to last perhaps 5000 street miles. If you want to stick with a real street tire (that is better for bad weather and more miles) I think the Bridgestone S-02A is hard to beat, even for the occasional track day. Gary
Michelin Pilot Sport are very good on the Modena. Whatever you do don't get the Pirellis. I have them on now and they are not good. The P Zero Rosas are bad and the Neros are worse. Paul Gerrard drove my car a few weeks ago. He is the test driver and setup man for the Speedvision team Derek Bell drives for. He's driven every tire out there and many, many cars so I asked him his recommendation for the Modena. He said Michelins.
So I went for the bridgestones again . Seen a test report that placed them ahead of the Michelins, in most cases. Price then matters ... F
I have recently changed to the Bridgestone S-02A from P-Zero. They are more stable at speed and corner grip feels higher. I am happy with the choice, so will you I hope.
Since you are tracking your Modena, I would recommand a more adapted tyre than the street version of the Michelin Pilot Sport (SP2). I mean either the Pilot Sport Cup or the Pirelli PZero Corsa. These are perfect for a track and road use. However, one should notice their poor performance under rainy conditions. Do you care about that? On the other hand, they behave very well on track. FYI, I do carry PZero Corsa on my F355. I really love them. Christophe.
I do a mix of road and track and switched to the CS 19" wheels with the 19" Pirelli PZero Corsa. I find them great except as noted above in the rain. As a side issue do 430 wheels fit a modena and if so has anyone any experience of the 19" Pzero Rosso's.
