U.S. Model Mirror Question...

The Vitaloni Baby Turbo mirrors are the same style as the Euro spec cars. Not sure about the mounting holes, they may be different.

The Baby Turbo's are the same style but WAY TOO SMALL. They belong on Ducati's.

 

I must have the Baby Turbos on 22127, they are fine and make a pair if you want RH/LH.

Tha Californias are correct for the early cars....

 

You can;t see much in the Californias unless they are mounted correctly for your viwing angle and they only move thru one "plane" of adjustment, the Turbos are better in that aspect as they have dual ball joint fittings for a wider range....

Same here. I take a quick look in the mirror ( I only have one), but I'm always looking over my shoulder.

 

They are way too small. I tried that once. Somehow I got lucky and found a pair of the euro versions on ebay out of Canada. BIG difference from the baby turbos which look more suited for a toy car.

It is not THAT easy to swap them out. There is a metal block that your US mirrors screw into under the door skin. The euros have holes in different spots. That means that not only do you need to drill at least one new hole, you need to do it with some sort of drill bit that will drill threads for your new screw. What I did was simply drilled new holes all the way thru and used screws and nuts from Home Depot. This, of course, means that you need to remove the door panel and get your hand up in there to hold everything as you do it.

After all that you will still have one screw hole that will just peek out from under the euro's base. I don't think there is any way around it either.

 

I'm still searching for a passenger side mirror to match the original big ugly flag mirror, why are they so difficult to find? The RHD cars had them, and the QVs had both sides. Any leads are greatly appreciated, thanks, Dino or p.m. me at [email protected] (82 GTBi)

Mirrors are a widely varying item early on, then later they WERE Factory installed, even electric!

WHAT will they think of, next????

 

Worst case you would remove them and repaint that area, then re install new base plates and gaskets....

At some point the door skin itself had the threaded inserts and position was standardized...in the early years the Dealer field positoned them based upon driver's seating position.
