Hopefully those sites will work and get your entire setup up and running 100% :)

But I have to ask, what was wrong with MacOSX?
You can run Windows apps on MacOSX thanks to Parallels or CrossoverOffice for mac, and you can run *nix apps natively thanks to Fink. What made you go from OSX to Ubuntu? Just seems like a step backwards to me :(

I don't understand you guys who use Linux. Why make life more complicated? To go and learn a platform with barely any back up or any source to rely on. Don't get it!

Actually for those of us that have grown up with it, or already know *nix/*bsd it's a breeze. Some of us are faster at using cmd line than a GUI. I'm not one of them, but I sure can see the truth in it.

Besides, for me, Windows makes life more complicated. Having to suffer through (Vista) software incompatibility, (Win32) instability or even (XP) malware and spyware.

With MacOSX, I don't have to deal with any of that. With Ubuntu it's getting to the be the level of MacOSX, but it still has a way to go. The best part about Linux though is that it's free.

And to say that there is no back up or no source to rely on is 100% untrue. You will find that as a Mac owner you'll find that people actually go out of there way to help you, and as an Ubuntu user, step-by-step guides are made for you, and even simple program such as EasyUbuntu or AutoMatix which automate most things such as setting up dvd playing, mp3 playing, install firefox for web browing, email browsing and a bunch of other things.

It's just something you gotta try for yourself for a bit. Kind of like foreign foods. :)

Good luck maranelloboy05, the only plus I see to Ubuntu over OSX is that more and more apps are becoming Intel only / updated only for Intel so I think that the older Macs might get left behind.
