And that he did----What a call out to Silva.... I was laughing my a$$ off.... I really like Sonnen and he proved last night he is at the top of the MW division.... I think he is the only one that has any chance of beating Silva...

Man, am I wrong like ALWAYS!!!!! Sonnen (can't stand the guy) did awesome! What a jackof* he is for considering himself the middleweight champ! I could understand if his fight with A. Silva was up to the Judges, but this guy got CHOKED OUT!!!! what is he thinking! Edgar, He earned my respect!!!! Man, what a fight. All the fights were great. i really enjoyed them. Lauzon, shocked me! (I think he shocked himself if you ask me). I guess the Aldo/KenFlo fight wasn't the best. I got a bit bored on that one. Phan fight was exciting. He did get redemption.

    I thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Man, mad props to Lauzon! Very impressive win. I wonder if that win will get him a title shot next, or will they give Melendez a shot right away. Dana is also talking about bringing Aldo into the picture as well. Maybe have Aldo fight Melendez at LW to determine who gets the shot..........? I love the LW division - so many top fighters.

The Pettis/Stephens fight was quite the war. The UFC is proving to be a higher caliber of fighters for Pettis. He's a great fighter, but the UFC has a lot of great fighters.

I wasn't overly excited watching the Maia/Santiago fight. Maia is looking better and better in the standup game, I just hope he doesn't do a "Gurgel" and forget he's a top BJJ specialist.

I don't think there's an MMA fighter with more heart than Garcia (maybe Edgar?). What a non-stop war! Lots of fun to watch.

Sonnen did exactly what I thought he would do. He did seem a bit sluggish though, maybe from all of that time off.....? Nevertheless, he was successful. I cannot wait to see a rematch against Silva - hopefully that is up next.

I was a little bored with the Aldo/Florian fight as well. KenFlo never got a chance to throw his lethal elbows, or really ever threaten Aldo. Aldo did not come across as dominantly as he usually does. I don't think he is as dominant as Silva in his division - he is beatable. I think Edgar could beat him.

And what can be said about Edgar? The guy is a machine! I couldn't believe he got so dominated again in the 1st round - at least is wasn't a 10-8 round like in the last fight. Once he settled down, and Maynard slowed down a little bit, and Edgar got into his boxing groove, it was poetic to watch. Edgar's head movement and footwork are incredible, and he doesn't slow down. Maybe the best boxing in the division? Beautiful KO.

Sonnen is a great marketing guy, and not half bad at MMA either. I like him, although I can see how the shtick gets weary.

Can we close the book on Guillard now? Everyone talking about how much potential he has, he has ZERO ground game. I thought he'd knock out Lauzon, but once the fight went to the ground, Guillard looked lost.

Edgar is the MAN! Not sure how long his reign will last given the strength of the LW division, but this was a great victory. I actually felt a little bad for Maynard, but this is a solid win. Edgar's resume is quite impressive with wins over Maynard, Sherk, Penn (twice), Miller, Griffin, Fisher, and Bocek.

Props to our local boy - Toms River is in my area, and I've noted a few times that I used to work with Frankie's father. I bet he's one proud pop right now!

I don't see why Edgar can't have a decent run as belt holder..........the only question mark that remains for me is I don't think I've seen him use a whole lot of BJJ..........has he fought anyone where this was tested?

    Yep, he submitted Matt Veach.

He rolls with Almeida, I know he's pretty good at it. Wrestling / boxing is really his base though, so I am assuming it's in his arsenal to defend or submit as needed.

Considering Gray Maynard wasn't submitted by Nate Diaz in either of their fights, I can't imagine that Edgar would even bother, so stick with boxing - it worked! :)

I can ***** and moan, even if no one listens........ :)

Seems like February is when GSP is targeting his return. In the meantime, Penn/Diaz makes for an awesome headline anyways, and the rest of the card seems decent too.

    Pick 'em for the GSP-less event this weekend;

    UFC 137: Penn vs. Diaz
    Date: Oct 29, 2011
    Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
    Venue: Mandalay Bay Events Center
Broadcast: Pay-per-view, Spike TV and Facebook

    MAIN CARD (Pay-per-view)

Nick Diaz vs. B.J. Penn If the right BJ shows up, he can win it. This should be a heck of a fight.
Cheick Kongo vs. Matt Mitrione Meathead is on a roll as of late.
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Roy Nelson I love Crocop, but his best days are certainly behind him, and Roy is one of the top HWs.
    Hatsu Hioki vs. George Roop
Jeff Curran vs. Scott Jorgensen And this is on the main card over the Cerrone/Siver fight because.......? Makes zero sense to me.

    PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

Donald Cerrone vs. Dennis Siver Gotta go with the Cowboy. He better get it to the ground quickly. Siver's standup is amazing.
Tyson Griffin vs. Bart Palaszewski Tyson needs to get back up into the upper crust of this division. I believe he is capable.

    PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook)

Eliot Marshall vs. Brandon Vera Haha.....Vera just won't go away! I like the guy, and would love to see him reestablish himself. It can start right here.
Danny Downes vs. Ramsey Nijem Ramsey looked so good on TUF.
    Chris Camozzi vs. Francis Carmont
    Dustin Jacoby vs. Clifford Starks

I thought Vera got cut by the UFC a year or so ago??? When did he come back?

Also have to agree with you on Cerrone/Siver- WTF are they thinking not having this on the main card???

Vera did get cut, but when his last fight ended up being overturned due to Thiago Silva's testing positive, the cut was rescinded.

I'd say this is Vera's last shot to stay in the UFC

Now I remember hearing that the cut was recinded.
Yeah, I would assume that Vera needs to get a win to stay.

BJ Penn looked flat - I'm a big Diaz fan, but I didn't think he'd have enough to beat The Prodigy.

Love Cerrone - he just flattened Siver!

Pretty good card over the weekend.

Cerone - he is the man! Very impressive win over a tough Siver. I think a title shot is in order sooner than later.

So is Kongo better than we thought, or is Mitrione not as good as we thought? I can't decide. Kongo is a fun striker to watch.

Big Country had to win that fight. As much of a legend that Crocop is, he isn't what he used to be. Roy can sure absorb a lot of punishment.

I think Penn fought well. It's just so hard to deal with Diaz's boxing and reach. BJ is a good boxer, but Diaz is better. I was surprised to hear that Condit is stepping aside to allow the GSP/Diaz matchup to happen on Superbowl weekend. GSP's absolute biggest strength is what anyone needs to beat Diaz, and that is takedowns, and no one is better at it than GSP. I don't think we'll see a lot of standing up in that fight............GSP will take him down at will and ground and pound Diaz for the victory. Hopefully, he finishes him.

I really want to see BJ drop down to 145.................I think that would be very interesting. I just don't want his retirement announcement to stick.
