Cyborg test positive for Steriods!!!!!!...
Going to my first UFC fights tonight in St. Cloud, MN. All amateurs, but should be fun nonetheless. I think Rich Franklin is going to be there signing autographs and so is Brock Larson. MDS
Pretty fun to watch. A couple of knockouts. Was two feet away from Rich Franklin. Some of the fights were pretty brutal - a guy could get hurt in this line of work. MDS

I agree. Unfortunately, I think this hurts the sport. Good thing she was caught - I don't feel bad for her one bit.
If I were 20 years younger, I'd take the shot at it! Just one of those things I think I would enjoy...married with children now, no chance I'll get in the ring. I trained a little Muay Thai with my BJJ and a few guys thought I had previous training as a boxer (which I had not).
My Boxing trainer and the owner of the boxing gym teases me to do 1 pro boxing match. a 4 rounder in the mid west somewhere. A 40 and older club. The owner wants to do it BAD also. I have NO interest at all. i'm 44 and think i'd do very well but that spilled out of my bucket list decades ago!!!!!
Anthony Johnseron weighed in 11lbs overweight, and this after having moved UP a weight class?!?!? WTF happened there?
Isn't that CRAZY. Fighting @ 170 Moving up to 185 and STILL being 11lbs heavy!!! I hear he's been up to 240lbs. and walked at 218lbs 2 weeks ago.
Pretty good event this past Saturday.... It was so nice to see Gonzaga back in the UFC, and back to his roots. If he sticks to pushing a ground game, he should be more successful. Hopefully he is back for good. Good fight between Stout and Tavares. Tavares did a nice job of neutralizing Stout's standup. Wow, what a nice KO by Barboza over Etim. One of the nicest I have seen. Do you guys agree with Silva's disqualification against Prater? In the replay, I only saw one shot that cleanly landed to the back of the head. Silva was punching away like a madman, and by the time the ref stepped in, probably too much damage had been done for Prater to continue. What do you guys think about the ref having a whistle, where when he blows it, the fighters immediately stop fighting. In the case of what happened in this fight, there was too much time from when the ref saw the infraction to when he jumped in. If he had a whistle, he could have blown it immediately, deducted a point from Silva, and given Prater 5 minutes to recover. Thoughts? Palhares is an animal! The guy is just overpowering. I think it is time to give him a big fight. He shouldn't be more that maybe 2 fights from a shot at the title. I thought the Johnson/Belfort fight was a joke. First, the weigh in, and then the ridiculously early ref stand ups that were clearly in Belfort's favor. I know that Vitor wanted to fight, but Johnson should have been disqualified, and booted out of the UFC. That was a ridiculous. What can you say about Aldo? Another amazing KO. Arguably the top pound-for-pound fighter. I'd love to see him move up or down a weight class for title fights. Would be amazing to see him against Edgar or Cruz.
Great.... now the two biggest assz in UFC are fighting. I never thought I'd cheer for Bisbing....... but a can't stand Sonnen even more..... prick on prick.
I am going to thoroughly enjoy watching Bisping getting taken down at will, and getting beaten on by Sonnen. I really want to see the Sonnen/Silva rematch.........

Same here! I was a bouncer in a past life, got that out of my system then. I'm 43 and just recovered from my ruptured bicep tendon - definitely an age-related injury. It was brutal, and a reminder that this is a young man's sport (I was preparing for the BJJ Pan Ams when I hurt it).
Fact is, that unless you have an overwhelming desire to get in the ring, you should not do so (and I don't mean just guys over 40). Boxing, just like MMA is serious business, and it is best not to ever forget that.
I think it takes one kind of person to take up any form of combat training, and quite another to want to actually compete against someone else at full bore, where the other guy is going full speed ahead, trying to knock you out or submit you as much as you are trying to do to him. When I was much younger working in a hotel, there was a guy working there who was a black belt in some martial art, and worked as a bouncer at a night club. One night, some serious mayhem broke out (no guns or weapons, just fighting), and he took off like a scolded cat. In the gym, he was a beast. In real life, he was a wuss.
I was definitely a guy that liked to go at it. When I worked as a bouncer, I would jump into the fray as soon as something started. Even on my off days, I'd go to clubs (wrongfully) looking for fights - usually against someone bullying someone else. A lot of that was driven from my childhood - I was always picked on, but never backed down. I loved to scrap, and would take a shot (punch) to the face over a shot (vaccination) in the arm. Definitely would have no qualms stepping in the cage back then. I missed it by a few years. I'm older and far wiser now. Even the controlled BJJ can hurt you as I learned. That doesn't mean I won't train, it's just a reminder of what can happen.
Absolutely. I had been training muay thai for 5 years when last May I ruptured my Achilles tendon doing flying knee kick drills with pads. I have endured concussions but the Achilles was horrible and made 2011 hands down the worst year of my life. I take private boxing lessons now and am enjoying hitting the pads with my fairtex but any thoughts of competing have long faded as I get up in my 30s. I couldn't drive my manual 2007 carrera s for 3 months after my surgery, 2 months on crutches and one additional month with the walking boot. My Xmas gift to myself was a California. Today I was doing surgery all day and my Achilles was killing me, 8 months later! However, I am boxing tomorrow and will get a massage after.
The Achilles tendon rupture is really brutal - I know how hard the recovery was for my arm, I can't imagine the Achilles. Do you have full ROM now? I do with my arm, but I can notice slight differences - the bicep isn't as peaked, and slightly different "feeling"...not pain, but I notice the spot where the incision / repair happened.
Full range of motion but i still can't fully tiptoe with my left foot. It's definitely affected my boxing footwork as far as staying on my toes but every week I get a bit stronger. Sorry to hear about the biceps rupture. My friend tore his on a surf trip in el Salvador.
