I was so excited hear this fight is gonna happen. Not a fan of Diaz but i'll tell you, I'd like to see him win. that'll put a huge wrench in Dana's Plans!

In terms of "trash talk" Nate was pretty weak. Mac laid into him, but Nate didn't say much more than "F you. I come to fight..." I didn't think he said anything to talk this up.

I would love to see Nate beat CMac, as I love to see hype trains derailed and Dana is such a pr1ck that watching him fail would be great, but I just don't see that happening....

Would you have preferred to see Nick Diaz fight Conner instead of Nate Diaz?

If that was a choice, I'd prefer to see Nick, but either will be very entertaining.

Nick's last fight was at 185. Connor's last fight was at 145.

No, not much lately. The best shot Diaz has of winning this fight, IMO, is with a strong leg kick game. Keep McG on the outside with solid leg kicks, then take him to the ground when he gets frustrated and tries to come in too quick. McG will be the physically stronger fighter, but as you said, on the ground Diaz will have a clear advantage. If Nate doesn't manage the distance well, McG's hands will tear him apart. I also question whether Diaz will be well conditioned.

Well what'ya know - Bisping beat Silva. Was an entertaining fight, although Silva seems to put too much into trying to distract his opponent versus actually causing damage. Good for Bisping - was a big one for him.

Bisping persisted, suffered some sharp blows from the talented Silva, but fought a better and consistent fight. Silva with plenty of shenanigans...he woke up too late to win the fight.

And now, Silva's manager is barking for a possible rematch. Or a fight against Nick Diaz. At this point, he is 40 years old, and will likely not get any better. He really has nothing left to prove. He looked pretty good against Bisping, but not like the pre-Weidman Anderson Silva that absolutely dominated the division. I'd hate for him to stick around in a mid-level funk, because his legacy deserves so much more.

I have a hunch that Tate could beat Holms tonight if she has the right strategy. But I'd like to see Holms win. Another Rousey vs Tate fight would be worthless.

While I have money on Tate, I think Holm will beat her pretty good. Tate' will be smarter and more cautious than Rousey, but I expect her nose to be rearranged jabs, which will lead to an attempted takedown out of desperation that Holm shakes off with easy. From there, Tate will have no answer.

After watching this video I realized how well Holm was prepared for Rousey defensely (e.g. when Rousey would get her in a headlock)...so Holm didn't only win by boxing and kicking.

Tonight's fight will be very interesting...

Lol - McGregor! HAHAHAHA! Diaz choked him out - can UFC stop with the big push? He needs to fight Edgar for the 145 title or vacate. Love it! Diaz was the perfect foil!

Happy for Miesha Tate - she was losing, but hung in there and choked out Holm. That's what experience gets you, congrats to her! Holm didn't lose any moxie IMHO, she's still a badass.

Damn! I was all sorts of wrong. Congrats to both Tate and Diaz. Huge respect to both.

Now, though, let's see who Rousey calls out. If she has any sort of character, it'll be Holm.

Not too surprised Diaz submitted McGregor. Diaz is one tough S.O.B. He has no quit in him.

+1 regarding Diaz. felt bad for Holm. But happy for Tate. I think Rousey doesn't deserve a title shot after a devastating loss. Let her fight Holm first and then winner takes on Tate for the belt.

Agreed. Helwani interviewed Holm post fight, it was heartbreaking. Rousey doesn't deserve a title shot, I've said before that I'm not interested in another Tate / Rousey scuffle.

I'd like to see UFC push Tate - she's good looking and paid her dues. Let her reap the rewards.

One thing I noticed about Miesha's RNC - she left her legs crossed, which is a big no-no. You can tell she's more of a wrestler than jiu-jitsu practitioner.

If an opponent takes your back, there inclination is to cross their feet, rather than protect themselves by putting "hooks in". The person getting choked then simply needs to swing their leg over the opponent's crossed feet and push down HARD.

Very painful and an easy way to snap the ankle. I know, I did it to an opponent (not intentionally breaking it, but that's how devastating the submission is) - by far my favorite defensive submission.

I caught a few advanced BJJ guys with that. In fact, many of my fellow classmates would tell newcomers not to take my back...when they asked why, the response was "you'll find out!" :)

Anyway, quick coaching point for Holm, I see a LOT of MMA fighters make this mistake. When turtled up or on the receiving end of the RNC, it's as good a desperate move as you can get at that point.

So who taps quicker? McGreggor or Northcutt? Pretty much a toss up.
