In the dim distant past, I seem to remember a guy in the SF valley who was all atwitter (before there was twitter) about buying the Bertone Porsche. a 9ll bodied by Bertone I think to a design by Giugiaro. I think the car was maroon. He seemed to think he had discovered the holy grail but I wonder, did the car go on to fame and glory? Was it for sale for peanuts at some time?

Here's some pictures of it on this website COACHBUILD.com

I think the buyer back then told me it had been created at the behest of the American importer of Porsche, maybe the West Coast importer, someone like Johnny von Neumann or Otto Zipper.

Anyway maybe it's the burgandy color that turned me off but I am prepared to change my view of the car if it is now a superstar of the concours set

Does anybody else see the resemblance? I'm thinkin these Fiats (especially the early ones with sealed <Miura> headlights! taillights), are the BOMB! Bertone styling, rare because MOST have rotted away, these little cars have really captured my eye of late. Might be acquiring one....two perhaps :D

Both were designed by Guigiaro when he was at Bertone. Good eye!

    Better looking than a 911.

I like it other than the massive steering wheel.

That was common in those days...

Stock Porsche longhood steering wheels were huge.
