I was one of those quoted for the BBC article, the author did a nice job.

I'm in my late 30s, grew up with a Dino 246 that's still in the family and would greatly prefer that car to most contemporary Ferraris (and I've driven most of them). Would also greatly prefer a 550 to any 575 and I think we'll see that opinion prevail in the marketplace, especially comparing 550 manual to 575 F1.

Prices go up and they go down. I like my 575 and keeping her until such time I don't want her anymore (not sure I'll never not want her tho), at that time, if I sell her I get what's she worth, maybe lower than I paid maybe higher, either way, I'm going to enjoy her until then. Unless you're in the market to buy or sell, these prices don't really mean much. Its often said around here, buy the car you like, drive and enjoy until you decide to move on. I don't think anyone is expecting to retire rich by selling their 575/550's.

Exactly. I struggle to think of any high-volume Ferrari that will ever be considered a retirement car. You may gain a little, and of course no one likes to see their values tank after purchase (why I don't buy new Porsches!)...but a little bit is part of this game, and you do have to pay to play. I'm more than happy with stable value, but then again - I have a lot of fun driving my "unloved" Ferraris, so no big deal either way, really.

Add Europe to that. Watching 550 Market myself very closely and the market is dead slow. Even cheap ones sit forever. A LOT are taken off after about a month then relisted but they've been sitting forever. Good, clean cars at 80K don't sell in a hurry.

Buy one, drive it, don't care if it's worth 20K or 200K in 10 years. It's one of the best GT's ever made.

It looks like the real value of the 575 market at the moment.

Isn’t the 550 about to go off the import restriction list? 25 years? That may bring supply up some.

Only time will tell. I think both the 550 and 575 will be well sought after models in the future. Just like the real estate market everything is cyclical. I have seen Ferrari prices rise and fall over the years and have heard all the same posts over the years. Wow do I wish I could go back 2o+yrs and buy a bunch of cars nobody said would be worth anything. 575 are a bargain in my opinion when you look at the cost of a new Ferrari etc. So if any of you have a No story’s clean 550 or 575 that you want to sell me for 65k to 70k. I would not hesitate to purchase. So please PM me. LOL..

Understood. but at an auction it takes two buyers to achieve a high price. The more vehicles that are alike the more watered down the bids are.

With a used car (especially a used exotic) the color combination should be at or near the bottom of your concerns. This is just my opinion.

I never thought about color combinations with any used car purchase - including cheap used vehicles.

All Ferrari sales seem to be slow. 575 are not moving above 100k based on their asking prices.

Right mileage / color combo / options - I’d see getting serious at 95

agreed.... but again... at an auction seeing 4 or 5 of the same car... is pretty underwhelming. Lots of "chances" for one to go for less. Very little fear of "missing" out on a car.

Plus that auction was largely a dealer auction. There were lots of buyers... but mostly dealers and flippers etc...

I was there and ran cars.

The contemporary used GT-3 and RS market has a lot of hot air.

I would bail out, if I was sitting on an example.

Yup... they simply made too many and the demmand was made up by flippers. I believe the market will be saturated. STILL AMAZING AND AWESOME CARS!

The days of paying big money over is silly. The collectors are just going to sit back and wait for things to settle. The really good porsche clients paid sticker and wont get hurt.

    Its musical chairs.

The personality of the 550/575 is “refined and in good taste”.
To say there’s something undesirable about a silver 550/575 misses the point.
The car is stunningly beautiful, timeless, and graceful in the silver shades.
