More parts! Here are the radiator fans that are now restored. One of the motors had a bent shaft due to the collision. I was fortunate to find a new one on Ebay (could not believe my luck). The motors were disassembled and cleaned. The wire leads were replaced with the appropriate cloth clad wires and the bullet connectors were sourced from England. The grommets through the case were too degraded to use so I made a duplicate part in styrene and brass and then made a silicone mold. I then made the grommets out of rubber. Next was the rotation stickers. The ones that are on the market are thin aluminum and did not resemble the original ones, so I did the art work and printed new ones on adhesive paper with clear tape over the top. The cases were painted in silver hammer paint and end caps polished. Fan blades were powder coated for better wear. The motor saddles were zinc plated and proper mounting grommets install on the saddles and all hardware cad plated. All the bearings were lubricated and the motors assembled.

Now that we made ugly beautiful again, what now put it in a garage and look at it? I would rather ugly and use it as it was intended! Maybe not so beautiful?

Have you seen photos of the body? Seeing as how everything else has progressed thus far,
I would not expect any less from the rest. Driven? Yes it will, trust me.

Besides, what would be the point of going through all this if not to drive/use it the way it was when new ? ;)

Yes.... Alberto is right! With all my cars that I restore I show them for a year and then it becomes a driver. This is the last car restoration. It was also a wreck with only a rear differential and not much else. Both quarter panels, radiator support, rear tail light panel, one inner rear fender shield, left door post and both floors were replaced. Then I had to find all the correct parts including engine and transmission! The Dino still has a ways to go though but it will be finished and driven!

Very impressive work molding the rubber grommets on the fan motors. Some excellent detail work going on here and I'm certain the car will be spectacular when done. Hard to believe this thread is over 10 years old. Where does the time go?

This car is a 1966 GT350 Vin number 6S1224. It was a Hertz rental car out of San Francisco airport. The original colors were white with gold strips. I like the most recognized colors of white and blue. I also changed out the back seat for a packages tray with spare tire, American 5 spoke racing rims with rear disc brakes. Car is lowered with 65 style exhaust side pipes. Engine has a mild cam, high compression 10.5 :1 pistons and with 3.50 gears in the diff.

Sergio, I do not quite understand your 'generic' comment: " Yes, American people do not drive them, is easy"
    Huh?

Alberto, I believe Sergio might be referring to the fact that most American owners of antique/classic/vintage, especially exotic or higher valued, older cars don't seem to drive theirs much, let alone "as intended", comparatively to, let's say their European counterparts.

Steve, Love the P-51. Used to be a Cavalier conversion here, but was shot down by the Hondurans.
The wreckage was most likely rescued and taken to the USA, as still decent, as it was a forced landing,
    and not burned up.

    Oh, to only have known...:)

    Regards, Alberto

What I was referring to in my comment, was the fact that after buying the car new in 1972, I drove the car all over Miami, even to KMart. Parked the car without concern. Now that I have compassionately restored the car with many more dollars than I originally spent while noticing the current market prices, I do not drive the car to K Mart anymore. Frankly, if I hadn't put so much money into the car, I think I would be driving it all over. The American public does not respect cars like in Europe! Maybe the reason. Just a thought.

Neal, I think you are punishing yourself unnecessarily. Drive it!
    Be careful parking it, or...don't.

Great thread to have discovered! Did you finish the Cessna? We used to have a Cabin Waco.

    Amazing work, Steve. :)

    Thanks George!
The Airmaster is almost ready for covering and paint. I still have some sheet metal work to complete, cowling, dish pan and gear fairings. Everything just takes much longer than expected! I Love Cabin Wacos!! There is a YKS cabin Waco project on my airfield that is calling my name...will see!

Some more custom parts. This is the trunk license light contact. My car didn't have a trunk let along small parts like the contact! After looking at a lot of photos and getting a trunk frame with the post that the contact screws into I came up with a drawing. The part is made of delrin with a stainless tinnermin washer and screws.
