Front end looks like Mondial T. I recall seeing that photo in Auto Week many years ago but I don't remember what was said about it.
It's an early 348 prototype (late '87/early '88), that was crudely disguised to look like a Testarossa upgrade, using a 3.2 Mondial front lower panel, a Testarossa single mirror, and crude, fake Testarossa rear wing/rear end mouldings. The: "part of the same family?" car posted by Robbe, was a 1990 348 test car that was fitted with a 3.4 twin turbo V8. The idea was that the 3.4 twin turbo engine would be a top of the range 348 for the rest of the world, and a 2.0 twin turbo V8 would be fitted for the Italian market. Ferrari abandoned the project fairly early on as it's performance was seen as being a threat to Testarossa sales (the last thing Ferrari wanted was to have customers buying their top of the range car being outrun easily by owners in the "lesser" model).
