I am afraid to ask but came home yesterday after a 1 hour drive in the Ferrari. Car stalled coming up the driveway which was the 1st time that ever happened. Started right back up and drove fine. Parked in garage. Came out an hour later and there was antifreeze (assume) all over the floor. Any ideas on what it could be? If it was your car what would you look at? Thanks for any tips and I will post the ultimate outcome when either I fix it or it gets on the trailer to Ferrari of Central Florida. She has been a fairly relaible car and this is only the 2nd issue I have had which luckily happened at home so no tow bill.

If it's slick and green, it's either snot or antifreeze. If it tastes sweet, it's antifreeze. If it tastes like snot, well, it's snot.

Actually, don't taste it. Sounds like antifreeze. Is it coming from a particular side of the car (near the rads), or near the expansion tank in the center?

Car stalled coming up driveway plus coolant on floor...one would first think of overheating.

Basic things to check when the car has cooled off would be coolant level (should be 2/3 to the top of the black coolant fill tank (not 100% full!)...plus verify that radiator cooling fans are coming on as temp creeps up while idling.

Verify that the radiators aren't stuffed up externally (I've had an entire newspaper clogging a radiator grill before).

While verifying that radiator fans come on, check your oil level (i.e. engine running and hot). Look for foam or milky sheen.

Check radiator fan fuses in passenger footwell.

    Aye. Good advice.

For that matter, check around the outside of your radiator cap for coolant. Caps go bad and leak both coolant and pressure which tends to overheat our cars, as well.

If you want to check the LH fan itself. Remove the LH relay under the passenger floorboard and jumper the two center spade terminals (top & bottom of the relay socket) this will also tell you if your thermal switch on top of the LH radiator is bad. Mine went bad and I hear it is common for them to go bad too :(. Luckily they are around $20 at ricambi :)!!

But not so much on the 355 as the earlier metal-style caps (348, 328, 308, BB, etc)

I had the same situation recently. The green stuff is AntiFreeze. You may have a crack in your radiator that wil need replacing. My 355 is a 95 and I see your is a 97, my local had another guy in with the same thing on his 95' 355, also needed a new rad.

Still haven't figured out why this happened. Car is running fine now but I'm going to inspect the ideas posted by Goth, et al. Thanks for the advice and hopefully I DON'T need a new radiator!
