Ok let me preface this by saying I own a yellow maserati coupe GT and I am very very much in love with the marque and have been since I was a little boy. I truly feel my maserati is the perfect balance of speed, handling, comfort, amazing engine music, and beauty. I would be the last person to bash the brand. I also LOVE the quattroporte very very much; love its looks, love the way it drives, everything. Today however I was rounding a corner pretty fast in my coupe and there in front of me I saw (now if you are as much as a car nut as me you go around silently naming cars you see on the road to yourself and I am pretty damm good at it) a BUICK. It was parked diagonally front facing the road I was driving on and I thought to myself man that thing looks really shiny...than it hit me it was a black quattroporte! Now I know I know people have made fun of it for looking like a Buick many times before and I thought they were on crack...until this happened to me. From certain angles it is a dead on copy of a Buick...as much as it pains me to say it...sorry, I just had to share my epiphany.

You're funny. I could see how a black QP could resemble that random black Buick, in a flash. Black is, along with plain navy blue, probably one of the least flattering colors for the QP's smooth, sensual lines. Black and blue are too understated for such a smooth shape, hence its temporarily mistaken identity.

If and when I own a QP it will be in grigio alloy (nuvolari I believe in Maserati speak) or ingrio, something that accentuates the beauty.

    That is funny, however. ;)

    Forza,

Yes Cavallini, you are right. In the silver or grays the car looks stunning. Black and dark blue mute the subtle lines way to much. I just saw one in silver and one in almost a pewter color (one of the grigios) this morning and I sure did not mistake them for Buicks!!
