    Hey guys

I have a need for an insurance company to look at my circumstances without charging me a premium

I am fourty three and have held an Australian license for 25 years

I keep my California in the UK, but don't have a UK license or residency

My insurance for the last year was under a mate who has lived in the Uk for 10 years, but I don't have the option for him to insure it on his multicar policy this year

I paid him £2000 a year for adding the car to his existing policy so I'm hoping to pay under £3000 a year with the insurance in my name

The company it is with currently is hiscock

Can anyone help me with ideas for flexible insurance companies that might help

I use Chartis private clients and they seem to be very flexible. They are not the cheapest but definitely extremely good. Got the insurance through First Point brokers. Let me know if you want their number

Try Lockton +44 (0)20 7933 2539, broker - Chubb are the underwriters they use.

I had my california with them for 2 years and now my 458 (as well as my lotus elise).

I have similar circumstances to yourself in that although I am from the UK I live in southern Ireland and have an Irish driving licence. I do have an address in the Scotland but keep my car in specialist storage near Glasgow. I dont have it registered in Ireland because of the £120k+ import duty and lack of buyers when it comes to re sale. The policy covers 90 days outwith the UK, most do I think.

In late 2009 I wrote a letter regarding my circumstances and sent to 5 brokers - only Locktons actually came back and they were very helpful and very good price wise. I am 48 and pay £1350 for 5,000 miles on the 458 although London may be more expensive. I think the policy is related to the UK FOC but I did not need to join. You will need an active tracker and I think my excess is £1,500 - not sure.

One added bonus - the price includes track day cover with a 10% excess but NO racing! I dont think you can say fairer than that.

You may have issues re no claims bonus earned but have a chat, a good broker is usually better than dealing direct.
