I have noticed that 308s for sale on the UK market nornally have a much higher milage than cars in for example Germany and Italy. Any ideas on if this is due to that the UK owners realized that the cars should be driven, the season longer or could this be caused by higher level of manipulated odometers in some countries?

Save re typing this is from another thread asking about high miles cars and the durability side .
But it might shed some light on the issue —— then again might not ?

“[It’s just as well the 3x8 block and contents are engineered seemingly for longevity because the speedo pick up or sensor is only connected with a simple plug .Located aside the rear RHS behind the rear cam belt cover .
My sensors been a bit temperamental since I’ve cleaned it up ( removed it -one bolt ) it’s beter .
Speedo comes on after the engine warms up now .Really need a new sensor .
There’s threads on here about the ease of fixing them ,

    Buts where’s the motivation ?

Consequently in my book with 308 / 328 ,s you can’t ( folks do of course ) believe the odometer .
I can’t think of another car with such an easy 1 min job of reversibly disconnecting the speedo that’s so price and mileage sensitive.
All you guys with lifts much just reach up under and “ping “ pull the plug before lowering the car
    Absolutely ridiculously easy peasey .

    Sorry chaps I write as I see it and I,am a new to 308 s .
Never bumped into it with the Testarossa or 360 so there mileages shown are credible, but 308 / 328,s you are whistling in the wind .

For completeness mine shows 87000 Kms ( LHD Italian variant 208 ) runs sweet and I have zero concerns .
But iam under no illusion of the huge number of incredible low miles cars out there and there’s simply no way to verify .

Apologies in advance if I’ve inadvertently pricks someone’s bubble.] “

Maybe this also explains why there are so many 308s with either worned out leather seats or even replaced leather after only "50-60k" km on the odometer...

Yeah...I have wondered about that for years...why all the love for Connolly leather? It looks like crap in under 20-30K miles based on the all the 308s with low mileage and crap looking interiors. Never makes sense.

We Germans are gangsters, drive the hell out of the cars till the odometer shows 120.000kms and offer them having 20.000kms on the odometer. Prior to the PPI we replace the pedal rubbers with new ones :)
