Thank you very much for taking the time to post this. Do you have a baseline dyno run before the mods, then one with exhaust, ECU and intake?

I'm very anxious to see the results. I guess I need to get my Dollar to Yen conversion chart back out....

always figure about 120 yen to the $.

GruppeM has all the baseline dynos but not on my car yet. He has the stock, stock with air cleaner, stock with exhaust system, exhaust system with air cleaner and exhaust system with air cleaner and ECU. But we will do one on my car due to the fact that the timing belts and all were changed. Right now I am dealing with a slightly over rich mixture. When we fix this we will dyno...hang tight. Like Bruce said, it is a long process. But when this is done, we will have the baseline for the total setup on my car.

    Thanks Xavior,

I received and email from MAMORU OGOSE, and some hard data from GruppeM should be a few days away. I'll be sure to share anything I can find.

    Hi Xavior,

Just wondering why you're not fond of Kreissieg? Did you have a bad experince with them? Or is their product quality in question?

    Thanks.

I received Dynopak graphs from MAMORU. Peak power went from 319.6ps@7324rpm to 332.3ps@7621rpm, for a 4% increase. Happily the torque curve shows a nice increase everywhere above 3000, especially from 3400 to 4000. Peak torque went from 34.6 Kg/m to 33.1 Kg/m.

MAMORU wrote that they changed the exhaust only, so I'm not sure about the intake and ECU. There's also a 3rd "mystery line" on the graph. I've written him for some clarification.

    Xavior, is this your car?

What is the conversion from ps to hp?

MAMORU just wrote to me that the blue line is stock, the green is their intake kit, and the red is intake and exhaust. This data does not include ECU tuning. Hopefully the ECU tuning will give even more hp.

The exhaust is beautiful, and a 4% increase is appealing, but the overall dyno numbers seem a little low? Maybe they're just real.

Xavior, when do you think you might post your numbers??

    Thanks,

    Mark

ECU makes a very big difference. That is the bottle neck to unlock the actual power. Unfortunately I am swamped at the bank and may not get in the shop till Friday night or Sat. Put it this way.... when I first got the car, I was a little scared to open it up in 6th.... Now I dont really want to take it 5th. lol Yeah yeah, stop my sniveling, I know.... but seriously... the car....scares me. I feel like it is constantly thinking "How can I kill you today?" when I drive it. The sound has grown on me..... the car now feels like the king pin in the city and the bat out of hell on the highways.....

So what is the stock wheel horsepower on a 355? I think it is around 312-319..... ?

Depends on the dyno you use, on a Dynojet expect 305-315.

Different brands of dynos will read drastically higher or lower, by drastic I mean as much as a 10% difference. This is why you can't just look at a dyno and see x amount of horsepower and assume that the product you have added to your car has actually made some type of improvement. The only way to know is to dyno the car without the modification on a dyno to get a baseline and then dyno the car on the same dyno after you have installed the modification and directly compare the two graphs.

Street headers are moving right along. Wish it could happen faster, but with all the race engine work having to be done on the race cars it is hard to find quality time for the Ferrari 355 header project to get the attention it needs for a final production design.

First dyno run developed so much hp/torque that the clutch could not hold up(lol). With the clutch slipping badly above 4,000rpm we could not get a full wot power run.

With clutch assembly replaced we have done a second dyno run at full power. Numbers were on target, and from collected data there appears to be some additional power available with some minor mods to header design.

I will not post any of the dyno data while headers are being developed, but as soon as we get everything the way we want it, final production dyno numbers will be posted. Some interesting info concerning the torque curve numbers in relationship to the by-pass system and by-pass transition will be discussed later when I have more time.

    Hey Bruce,

    Any developments?

Can you shed some light on your discoveries regarding the bypass? That's been one of my obsessions to tidy up the system and ditch the whole bypass system for a pure race application.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay in responding. As you know we are heavily involved in sorting out some of the long standing issues that have plagued the 355 model.

We are getting close to releasing the direct replacement for OEM header. This will be a bolt on replacement for those retaining the stock system with by-pass.

We have 2 other designs that will follow. One race version, and a completely redesigned total street exhaust system(headers, cats, and muffler) that will be like nothing else ever offerred for the 355.

Yes, we have uncovered some very interesting things concerning the by-pass which will be addressed in the release of the new total street exhaust system, and full race versions.

    I appreciate your patience.

    Bruce

    Xavior,
Did you get a chance to dyno your car with the ECU's? Can you post some pics of your exhaust.
    Thanks very much.
