I got a Bowers & Wilkins Zeppellin, the sound is awesome and it looks supercool too of course you can plug your iPod into a $100k system and it will sound mindblowing but for a self enclosed iPod system the Zeppellin is way cool about $600 Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have a three peice Ipod system from Klipsche that was about $500. Subwoofer and two satellites. Its sounds great and is very loud. Even so, I still wonder about playing compressed files through any sort of audiophile equipment, as it would just make the shortcomings of the media more apparent. I think solutions like these are about as far as one should go regarding playing MP3's.
My system at my apt is about $10k between speakers, amp etc, not including video The iPod sounds great on that
MP3s are more about convenience than audio quality. If your looking for the best sound at home there are much better alternatives. Amazing technology though.
You must have nice thick walls, I get yelled at in my apt for playing my basses even at low vol. No doubt the Ipod sounds great bro, I'm just saying that music sounds even better through other media. I have to agree though, that for convenience, there is nothing like it.
