Here are some pics from my new Ultimate Pedals install. With me doing the labor, in terms of straightforward clarity it was easy. In execution, it was exacting and fairly difficult physically. -Complete job, 3 pedals and footrest, took about 5 hours. -I'm a fairly big guy and squeezing into that small space wasn't easy. I took the seat out and steering wheel off; IMO those steps are absolutely necessary before beginning. -I bought a self centering punch and two hardened drill bits for the job. Cost for all was about $14, well worth it. Drill used was a cordless Black and Decker 7.2v home-use model, cut through the pedals like butter. -The mats are SportAuto Rubbertite in black; passenger side fit well but driver's needed some trimming. -The Ultimate Pedals are very high quality, were cut to proper dimensions, and supplied with plenty of stainless screws and nuts. Support from company was excellent when I emailed with install questions. All in all, worth the time and money. With the new pedals, billet knob, rubber mats, and Superformance retro-wheel my QV isn't any faster but I like the cockpit's businesslike look. Interesting.. I have the dead pedal which I haven't installed yet. Did you remove the rubber dead pedal or did you install it over top?
Scott- Very nice. The dead pedal looks great. I put a set on a C6 Z06 I owned, along with a pedal height adjustment. Made heel and toeing very easy. Do not try and drive bare-footed with those pedals. It hurts. Your dash hoodie looks nice, too. Taz Terry Phillips
Looking nice down there, Scott. The 308 doesn't really need brake pedal height adjustment. The pedals are already positioned nicely for heel-toeing. The 550 definitely needs a spacer for effective and safe heel-toe shifting. This is what I have in my 550. I'm sure Ultimate Pedals can make one up for you if you feel you need it. Guys, I appreciate all the compliments! I removed it, which necessitated cutting through a vertical line of stitching at the dead pedal to carpet joint on the outside corner. Didn't bother me to do this, as my carpet's in but fair condition on the driver's side. You could install the aluminum dead pedal right over the rubber dead pedal, but you'd need longer self-tapping screws than those supplied for them to seat tightly in the fibreglass floorboard below. I think the ones Ultimate Pedals supplied are 5/8", which works fine if you take off the rubber dead pedal. I imagine Ultimate Pedals would supply longer screws if you requested them.
Scott, nice job!! What material are these pedals? Does anyone know what happened to Titanium Cavallino? I had intended to purchase their pedal set but may have waited to long... Rick
I was thinking the same thing ! (of course ...'great minds" and all....) The rest of it looks good too! I have left rubber on mine as it makes the pedal well a "cave of darkness" with my black carpet. But in your case it all looks really nice and I LOVE those mats!! Tex is gonna run out a get some of those......!!!! It all looks very "together" and updates it nicely, I was always jealous of the newer car's metal footplates and that pattern emulates that nicely! Sweet work, man!!!! The banana vents are in that pad?? I thought ours were "hard to get"???
Ultimate Pedals has been around and gives an FChatter discount....... I'd deal with them, or Hill if it were me.....
Barry- Heel and toeing is easy in my car. It is F1. Scott- I always loved that unpierced steering wheel. I had one on my 78 Euro 308 GTS, and one from a 1974 364 GT4/BB. Always regretted selling the Boxer wheel. Would have looked great on the wall. Taz Terry Phillips
Bubba: -If you get the mats, call AutoSport first. Mine didn't fit well on the driver's side and I had to do some exacto-trimming. Sending them a cardboard template of your origs might be a good idea. Otherwise, they're a top quality pruduct and customer service was good. Original banana vent on driver's side broke taking it out, I put it back together and reinstalled both so that they fit snugly over the Dashmat. Banana vents plus one 1/2" round velcro fastener at mat center just next to windshield holds Dashmat in fine. I bought a really nice and much stronger set of repro vents from fchatter rizzo308, but haven't installed them yet. I love the wheel too. Retro enough to notice and still fits the 308-era ambiance. Mine was around $300 all-told from Superformance in the UK. I'm going to display the old MOMO wheel. Here are some pics of the Dashmat install and the interior pre new wheel, mats, and pedal covers. I like the pedals but I, too, LOVE those mats! I'll be adding them, along with the dash cover, to my 308. I could never understand why Ferrari chose high-gloss leather to cover their dash boards. They are blinding on sunny days!
The MOMO Veloce Leather steering wheel is quite handsome....very "1980s." They're hard to find now. MOMO made them very available as seen in this 1986 Road & Track advertisement: Image Unavailable, Please Login
The whole original MOMO company was sold.... Gianpierro Moretti declared "enough" after winning Daytona in his 333SP, and the advent of the airbag wheel....
