I'm selling an extremely rare and unobtanium passenger seat from the Ferrari 348 Serie Speciale. This is an F40 style sport seat with a molded carbon-kevlar shell covered in tan Connolly leather upholstery. The seat is equipped with lap belts, mounting brackets, and a sliding base.

Just 100 examples of the 348 Serie Speciale were built between 1992 and 1993, and the car could be optioned with F40 style bucket seats constructed from a carbon-fiber and Kevlar composite material. Markings on the base indicate production as March 5, 1993 by TIR, Trasformazione Italiana Resine, in Italy.

The leather is in excellent condition with slight wear on a few edges. There are hairline fractures in the carbon-kevlar and 2 small chips in the resin, consistent with age. The rotating knob to manually adjust the backrest rake is missing, but the knob can be turned manually without it.

I'm working on documenting how many sets of these incredible Serie Speciale seats exist today and believe there to be 50 or less sets remaining. Install this seat in your 348, F355 with custom seat rails, use it as an authentic racing simulator seat, custom desk chair, or man cave art. This seat is extremely comfortable and could also be reupholstered in red Nomex for the F40 look and feel.

My asking price is $6,000 and I'm open to reasonable offers. Thank you!

Would this be the driver's seat on RHD cars?

Cool item. I made a joke about having a “no fat chicks” sticker on the passenger’s window when it was on BaT and it hurt peoples feelings. I mean… it’s true tho.

Lol no fat chicks, car will scrape stickers were peak 90's/early 2000's tuner culture. No fat dudes either or seats will break. Ferrari realized this and made these seats an option during the small production run. The seats elevate the ownership and driving experience in these cars. If you're going to own one, they should have the SS seats in them.

Very nice. Thank goodness it's not black leather or I may have to make an offer. ;)

I thought these were standard and regular seats were the option.

I honestly don't know for sure. At this time, I have accounted for 17.5 sets (including my seat) that are either installed in cars or loose.

I would really love to make a mold for reproducing these seats. Obviously this too nice of an example. I saw a set of the shells for sale on ebay a while back but never pulled the trigger. If anyone has some laying around.......

That's correct - dealers would swap with standard padded seats at customer request. The original Serie Speciale brochure only shows these seats.

Selling a few sets will help you make back your initial investment. These could even be reupholstered for a U.S. F40 or office chair, as I saw in the local Ferrari Classiche department.

I really want a complete pair in tan. I was the 2nd highest bidder on BAT but the missing trim and bent mount (and well, only a single chair) meant I was going to just wait for a full set pops up. This is the third time I almost got a set but passed.

You may be waiting forever unless you purchase a car with them already installed. I'm working on a Registry and have only found 21.5 total sets accounted for, with 1 being the black set I saw in Thailand. Only 13 of those sets are tan. The other option would be to purchase mine, have the driver's side made, and get the missing adjustment knob 3D printed.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting replicas of these. Isn't all the appeal the originality? Anyway,.

I think there is a market for them. If I was handy with composites, I would make them wider like the regular 348 seats with either carbon kevlar or carbon fiber seat backs for lightness. With the influx of younger 348 owners and many who are more open to customizing their cars, there is an ever expanding market for SS style seats considering the rarity and value of the originals.

There were many more. I still have a black leather one x1 (driver side) that needs to be restored. I missed an auction 20 years ago to buy a pair for around 2k...still remember that tan set after all these years. Many were used in alfas and other small time race setups in the mid 90s. Most are squirreled away or destroyed though from that time.

As second highest bidder, I went up the most I was interested in but do hope this goes to a good home!

GLWS, hens teeth they are indeed.

If they’re not original why not just get something modern and safe and off the shelf that’s certified rather than something cooked up in a garage? No thanks. It’s a freakin seat not a shift knob. Honestly, i wonder how safe the original ones are in a collision. Ok, I shall climb down from my high horse.
