Thanks for reposting those pics, very cool........ There was a previous thread on the subject but the pics are MIA and the links are dead
I think it would lose its horizontal velocity well before it got to the beach. After a few hundred yards out it would be dropping straight down pretty much. But I could be wrong.
You would need to convince me that the engineer used his calculator correctly when designing the support column before I ever stepped out there. Never been to a driving range wearing a parachute... For some reason that shot reminds me of the king in the Movie (History of the World?) where he is skeet shooting and saying that he loves his people; as he yells pull and a peasent is launched into the air as a target.
Since they land helicopters on that pad daily, I'd imagine it could hold a 200lb golfer and his bucket of range balls
I think it would still be scary as **** out there. Besides, it would take forever to retrieve those bastards.
Even cooler I think is the sloping-curving glass building in the 4th picture, that place has a bunch of neat architecture! Just imagine that golf ball landing on your multi million yacht...and going straight through all 4 floors... FORE!!
I'm getting a mental image of an overly enthusiastic golden retriever that likes to chase tennis balls... you fill in the rest.

Ocean. Somehow don't think they were worried about losing the balls for this one. Simply a publicity stunt.
I had a black lab that didn't think twice about jumping off the top of the neighbor's boat house, upper deck. 12 feet off of the water.
I saw something on the Travel Channel about that hotel. They pick you up from the airport in a Rolls Royce.
www.theworld.ae www.thepalm.ae some of the things being built in Dubai......that place is like a fantasy land....
