Still trying to get the '85 308 ready for the spring... It then occurred to me that while the headlights will pop up and turn on I cannot lower the the "switch arm " in the high beam position. Can it be that something hascome loose inside? I do not even feel or hear a click . It is as if the steering housing will not allow the switch to go any lower to engage the H. beam!?!? Should I open the steering housing ? Any suggestion?? I am in the dark here (O.K. bad punn). Thanks.

The switches on those stalks are notoriously fragile. You will have to take the upper steering column apart to examine what is going on. If the stalk switch is broken, you are lucky that we have Verell here. He can repair it. They are NLA and cannot be purchased anywhere.

...I see and how exactly do I undo the upper stering column? Once the steering wheel is removed I am faced with a large hexagonal nut (locked in place wiyh a dent punched into it), Do I need to remove this nut to access the switch or can I just remove the steering column housing? Thanks Birdman.
