A couple of question now that I've gotten around to removing the spare and looking around. 1) I assume the rubber seal goes ALL the way around the hood opening? Does anyone know where to get the right seal? (NLA from Ferrari) Or, just use generic door seals? 2) What secures the battery door? What sizes? Where do you get them? (NLA from Ferrari) 3) Is that screw and washer halfway down the spare tire tray between the two halves suppossed to be there? There isn't one on the other side but it looks like there may have been one in the distant past. 4) I know the upper foam piece is missing, anything else (other than the tire!) that should be there? 5) Is the hole at the bottom of the well for drainage? Or, should there be a rubber plug in there? Thanks, Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
The only question I know the answer to is #1. Your weatherstrip is correct as-is. Someone explained it to me once but I don't remember exactly why seems it had something to do with airflow to rads. There is a seal on the cover that joins those two seals.
The foam piece is very important, it helps the air move out the top of the front bonnet. I replaced mine when I got my car, and it made the car run cooler. There will also be a spare tire/wheel hold down screw knob with a big plastic top part.
Really? I wondered about that. The parts catalog shows what looks like a front piece also. It didn't make any sense to me that there would be two.
There are 2 foam strips on the bonnet. 1 seals the top of the radiator to ensure air flows thru the radiator rathar than above it.. The other keeps the hot air out of the spare tire compartment. The battery door is secured by a pair or knurled thumb nuts that are fastened to the door by a pair of C-clips. Repros are available from TRutlands. Not sure which screw/washer you're asking about.
Round knurled knobs hold the battery cover, like the airbox but bigger....sorry keep forgetting your car's newer! There's a thread discussing them recently.... I agree on weather strip...... Very few screws are used, if needed usually a rivet...no idea on the hole at the bottom....
I wouldn't think this part would have rivets. The back portion of the well is secured by screws. And doesn't that need to be removed to service HVAC filters, washer motor, etc?
