Well, the 112ì Commendatore was AWESOME! But she never really came into production...the 108 i Imperator was ugly, for me!
The Viper was in front. The problem with the CLRs at LeMans that year was when they were drafting another car. The lack of airflow over the front of the car reduced downforce, that combined with the crest of the hill made the cars go light. The flat undertray had the effect of a sail. I believe the same thing happened to a 911 GT1 earlier in the season.
Possibly true but the thread starter was Underrated supercars. Most mentioned are still approaching the big $Mil. PS; Yamaha OX-11 may be quicker in all respects.
Yeah the 112i got the most attention, probably due to NFS2. Still not very well known though. As to the others I have to say I love them - I really got a thing for 80s supercars No, that doesn't match the McL... it surpasses it
I also liked this in spite of the weirdness. In another weird blast from the past, how about the Mercedes-Benz C111 Wankel mid-engine prototypes? I vote them by far the best looking Wankel car ever made. And they were pretty fast for their era, too - at least as reported in the press of the time. Didn't a piston turbo-diesel version set a long-standing 24hr speed record back then? I think it was only broken by a Chevrolet factory effort with the ZR1 Corvette back around 1990.
ah... I see maybe it was. It just looked like the placement was proportional if a car had been in front of the Viper, but I guess it was competing a little better than I thought. I'm actually suprised to see a Viper running with those ultra high performance cars like that, but maybe it has a little more than most people give credit. Crazy picture nontheless, but I have also seen a video of a car flipping like that.
