Got car with Fabspeed connecting pipes (no valves) and Fabspeed tips. Well, it's insanely loud, especially with the top up and less than 4K rpm. And windows up don't help much. And I'm talking DRONE, not high volume; I can tolerate the latter, but not the former. With the top down is perfectly tolerable, however, but you can hear the car coming for miles < he he>. Stock muffler is basically a paper weight in this mode (by-passed), right?

Now, I know if I buy the Fabspeed valved pipes I can fix that problem, but I much prefer to have a nice sound in-between all the time. HATE the 'dual' tone exhaust, or having to fiddle with a remote to open and close them... if possible. And stock exhaust with valves closed sounds like crap. Is there an exhaust option that routes exhaust thru the muffler all the time, like in most cars, and has a sound about halfway from valves closed and open??? Or do all alternatives (Tubi, Fabspeed, etc) are designed for the valves? With the valves open, all F430s are going to sound pretty much the same regardless of muffler, correct? Of course I'm assuming just 'catback' systems.

And finally, and the main reason for this thread, could those owners with spiders comment on the noise difference (vs stock) inside the car throughout the rpm range, and with valves open or closed (if applicable)? Many thanks folks.

Get a system with valves like capristo and let the euc of the car control it. With that done you can avoid have to use the control. It will be quiet at idle and loud after 4k.

Capristo can also manifacture a custom exhaust as they did for Lilleprins (see his posts). No way to pass the exhaust through the muffler at full load...there would be well too much backpressure which obviously would damage the cats (overheat) and worst the exhaust valves. The F430 can't be compared to "normal" cars and this includes also the exhaust system.

Thanks gang. So it's either bypassed with valves (stock), or bypassed without valves (like I have it now). But that's just by design, not because the car is 'special' :). Many other mid-engine cars are muffled all the time with no issues.

Anyway, with basically all F430s sounding the same above 4K rpm, and car sounding nice now but just too loud, I see little benefit of spending thousands of dollars on a different muffler. What bothered me the most was the ugly stock tips, but I can transfer them to the stock (valved) pipes. Will drive the car a bit more and decide later. If I could install a switch to bypass the stock valves at will (without having to pull fuses and such), I'd do that. I don't mind the racket in the city, but I'm sure it gets tiring on a trip. Thank you for your help folks. Take care.

My Fabspeed header and test pipe and Capristo twin sound drones horribly at exactly 3000k rpm...but after that point, it's just simply sweet. So I tell myself not to remain at 3000k for too long. Hahah....

I just recently installed Fabspeed muffler/tips and must say I and others loves the noise (sound), yes you can get it coming a mile away however when I compare with the stock muffler, I dont feel the noise is that bad in the car and I have a Spider..you can still have a conversation as long as you are > 3000 rpm

That's good information; thanks. And 3K on this car is like just above idle, so no problems there. Forgot to say on my previous post I already have Fabspeed pipes and tips, and would transfer the tips if I ever decide to put the stock pipes (with valves) back.

Guess will have to make it to a rally one of these days and hear all the different options in person. Thanks gang.

Not good PR for Capristo. I have it on my 430, no such worries so far and I live in an island that sees 36degrees celsius 95% of the year.

I agree, and even asked about this so said issue of muffler overheating personally to Antiono Capristo. They haven't seen any issues like that. BTW, the Capristo muffler has even side vents to expulse the heat on the sides of the muffler while the stock exhaust keeps all the heat inside. IMHO, the Capristo muffler should stay much cooler than the stock muffler. Those who had heat issues better make sure there valves are openening when they should.
