Ok this is as about as trivial and compulsive as one can get but here goes...

In removing my trays under the engine for various reasons , I noticed I was missing a few fasteners here and there and decided to get them sorted correctly. I went to Ricambi site and ordered what I thought I needed and some extras but I am not pleased with what I got and in one case it's the wrong size.

I'm sure Daniel will make me whole if I don't want these parts but I am more interested in getting the correct bits.

The OEM parts are black , I would think anodized. The screws and, washers and I believe the nuts are. The things I got from Ricambi are not black , just silver.

Across the front of the center tray under the engine are 6 attachments. The center two are Phillips screws, like wood screws into clips with female holes that clip on the next front panel. The outside 2x2 are machine screws that go into the frame . The OEM screws are wide, flat head , black screws with an Allen wrench hole in them. I received silver, hex head , 11mm screws from Ricambi, with silver washers.

The nuts I ordered for the sides should be 8mm , nylanuts and what I received is larger and again not black nuts or washers

I would like to source the correct black Phillips head screws , black washers , black nylanuts (if they are black ,not completely sure about those) and those Allen type black machine screws.

Has anyone else tried to find this stuff and if so where?

Very annoying when details like this are poorly sorted.

Let us know how you get on.

Good idea as they sell in qtys. of 50 min, no ones or twos. At first this concerned but their prices are so good compared to auto parts stores I bought from them.

When i was restoring my 348 i had the same issue, order from Ferrari they would come different colors !

So what i did was order around 1000 stainless steel self taping screws with a flange head in 3 different sizes and then sent them to be chemical blacked.

A bit OTT i know but i wanted a fixing that would not rust but looked like the original ones.

I am disappointed that they didn't replace my missing ones when I had the headers done there Barry.

    I'll source the correct stuff.

Over the past twelve years they've serviced my cars, Bob, I've learned that they routinely replace any missing fasteners as part of their service. I don't think you are an exception.

    Barry,

These bits were missing when I took it there for the headers as I changed my oil myself last year and noticed theye were missing then. I thought they would replace them and they didn't. I just put the car on the lift for the first time since then and the same ones are still missing.

    I wouldn't make that up.

Well, Bob, I know that they would not replace undertrays after servicing a car without securing them with all fasteners necessary. If you've noticed that some are missing, even all this time after servicing, they'll be happy to look into the matter. You can easily avoid all this drama and needless expense by simply stopping over there.

I can tell you that these undertrays get roughed up. I've lost a couple of fasteners along the way. Classic replaces them when the car is on the lift for pre- and post-event servicing. They also repair any cracks in the undertrays to ensure the fasteners hold. That's routine for them.

No drama Barry. You brought up Classic Coach , not I. I do know my car and I do know they didnt replace my missing bits. They are a great shop and I will continue to support them and this is a minor issue but it would have been nice if they had done that.

I like trying to make my car as authentic and correct as I can and sourcing out these bits is part of the fun of ownership.

I was disappointed in what I received from ricambi as those things are far from original design or OEM. If I can help others get the correct parts in the future that will be good.

I was in error, Bob. Perhaps I should have read your opening post in this thread. If I did, I wouldn't have suggested anything at all.

I believe the 8/32 ones of these are the correct nuts for the ones that have the threaded bolts. I am having some sent to my local fastenal store. Ill post if they are correct.

Thanks Dave. I ordered some of the same from them and some black fender washers. Ill see if they fit.

Haven't found what I believe is called flange button screws or truss screws yet, black with the metric hex drive. I have to get one off the car to get the sizes, etc.

Old thread, but I'm running into the same situation and would be interested if you ended up with a comprehensive list/suppliers of which screws, washers, and nuts are original to the under trays?

    Thanks!

No I never finished that project. I reached a dead end on the 6mm , black nylon domed acorn nuts specifically.

Next time I have the car on the lift I'll probably get motivated again to pursue it.

I think a lot of us would like some of the 6mm Black Domed Acorn Nuts. If someone like Ricambi is listening, may they can find them in quantity and stock them for all of us that only want a dozen or so.
