I have no doubt this issue has been covered but I am unable to find the answer I need. 1985 308 GTS: Is it normal that the driver's side exhaust to have a substantially weaker flow at idle than the passenger side? That is to say, the passenger side exhaust output is probably twice that of the other side. Other than that, no performance or idle issues. If this is indeed "normal", what is the reason for the disparity?
    Thanks,
    Sal

it's normal for a stock F muffler -- the internal design is asymmetric.

But would it even out if you used the choke lever or flipped the emergency flasher switch a few times? ;)

    Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

This is the "innards" of a stock "marmitte" from an "euro" 328, that is without catalysator: you can see that the tubes are assymetric; note that the design of the catalysed exhaust is not the same, even if the outcome is identical.

I sure am glad I ran across this thread. I have had the same observation with my exhaust and wondered if it is normal. One less thing to worry about. :)

I have an ANSA exhaust on my car, so I'm not sure whether this would apply for you... but I had this same problem.

Turns out it was misfiring on 2 cylinders in the front bank. Got that sorted with new plugs, wires, and resistors and it's equal exhaust pressure all round now.
