I need some new ones... I have a couple old touch screen Phillips Prontos that have hit the hard floor one too many times and are due for an update. Anyone have any suggestions?

My friends dad has a remote from Radio Shack, when you get close to it, it can sense you and the buttons would appear. Walk away or put it down and they disappear. I think it was $100.

I have a Harmony. It's very easy to use and well thought out. You go to their website, enter the make and model of your AV equipment and answer "true-false" questions about how you use your gear. Then you download the setting via a USB cable to the remote.

It's currently replacing 5 of my remotes. I love it. And, if you buy new equipment it's very easy to edit.

The best part about it is the motion activation. As soon as you pick it u, the back light comes on and all you need to do it hit Watch TV and everything comes on. I cannot tell you how many hours I spent reconfiguring things after out housekeeper was at the house trying to figure out how to turn on the stereo. It is very easy use and reprogram as you add or change components.

I got the Harmony 890 which is great. I use it to control everything, lighting, TV, speakers, computer, etc..etc..

With these remotes you can create "events." So essentially you can hit one button to watch a movie and it will dim the lights, turn on the DVD, turn on the speakers to the right levels and settings, and turn on the TV to the right settings. They also come with RF to IR converters so you don't have to have direct line of sight with whatever appliance you want to control. Also I know the 890 and 1000 control Z-Wave devices if you have any of those, or plan on getting them.

to tell you the truth, my grandma and grandpa have that and they lost it once (it was under the couch) but they are very handy for when you loose your glasses.
