The Saturday before last I was out for an early morning drive up 441. When I got a couple miles north of Boynton Beach Blvd. I noticed a PBSO coming up fast in my rear view mirror. I thought he was going to pass me but then he abruptly pulled in behind me and turned on the twinking blues. I pulled over, the deputy came up to my window, asked for my license and told me he didn't get me speeding or wreckless driving or anything like that. He then asked if there was any reason I didn't use my turn signal when I changed lanes. Two other PBSO cars pulled up and they were walking around the car asking me all sorts of questions. One even asked what it cost. Of course, I didn't answer this. Long story short, he gave me a ticket for failure to use a turn signal and warned me not to drive the way I want to around here. Whatever he meant by that. LOL! Then the unmarked PBSO smokes his tires pulling out! I was real impressed.
I've had many tickets in my life and I pretty well deserved all of them. But this is nothing more than BS! I realize I broke the law by not using a turn signal but if I was driving my Hummer he wouldn't have even looked at me. He obviously just wanted to give me a ticket for something because I was driving an exotic.
Thought you all would enjoy this little story.
    More money for the lawyers!!!!

I was just driving home from Ponte vedra beach to philly last sunday . As I was on I95 going north , thru Darien , Georgia , I came upon a speed trap at 5:15 am . I was clocked at 81 mph in a 60 mph zone , it also happened to be a work zone ( but being that it was 5:15 in the morning on a sunday no one was working . I asked the officer for a break on the 81mph , but she said No way ! I paid the fine online , it came to $ 756.00 . I just received a new summons , saying that I was convicted of speeding and that they have also enacted a " super speeder fine " and I owe another $ 200.00 So I have now paid $ 956.00 ouch .......... Should have flown !

And LEOs wonder why they don't get respect. I would guess that I see FLPD and BSO comitting traffic infractions at least once a week, and I don't drive around as much as used to. I have no doubt you were hassled just because of your car. Failure to use turn signal? Gimme a freakin' break....

It is clear that you have no respect for the law what-so-ever. The blatant disregard for traffic regulations that, by you own admission, you are clearly cognizant of, is a true indication of the kind of person you are.

I think you should have been tazed !

I usually forget to turn off my signals (on the few occasions that I use them), so people think I am going around the country clockwise, or counterclockwise depending on the lane change!
    BOGUS.

I know it doesn't happen much, but I got a break from an officer the other day.

Caught me going 8 over in a speed trap. I know that is nothing and I was amazed I was only 8 over.

Anyway, my new insurance cards were in my briefcase back in the office - he gave me the insurance ticket which gets kicked when I prove I had insurance in place at the time of the ticket.

The lane change ticket is very much BS - when was the last time you saw an LEO signal a turn?

I got a speeding ticket a few years ago and went to traffic school to avoid points.
The former police officer that taught it said that using turn signals is optional in Florida, but required in a lot of other states. I dont know if they changed the law since and now make it a requirement to signal, but you might want to check to see if their is a statute requiring it.

I have been in NJ for the last month and they just made it mandatory that if you are under 21, you need to attach a red sicker to your license plate, since they can identify minors. All the kids are mad and are refusing to put them on. An 18 year old was driving adn ahd the sticker on the first day the law went into effect and a cop pulled her over since he saw a light coming from inside the car and thought she was talking on a cell phone (its illegal in NJ). Turns out the passenger was listening to an Ipod, and that is where the light came from. But the car had a little statue hanging from the rear view mirroe so they wrote the driver a ticket for having obstructing the vision of the front windshield.

Sorry to hear what happened... The ticket is bogus if you did not interfere with traffic because of your lane change or slowing / stopping to turn etc. While not specificaly written into the law. It has been challenged in the past and won because the intent of the law was not to make you use your signal for every lane change... If no one is around to interfere with, it is not a violation.

Take it to court and hopefully challenge it.. take it to trial.. I know its a p.i.t.a but its the principal of the matter.

    Good Luck

Utter BS. Call the Ticket clinic.

You ran into a disgruntled person who used his power to try to make you miserable, like him.

I got a parking ticket at the mall several years ago. I parked across two spaces so I could be in the shade. I hate people who use two spaces but I was 50 yards away from the nearest car and at the end of the lot as far away as I could be from the mall. I had noticed trucks parking in this manner for months. I got a ticket for driving a Porsche. You got one for being in a Ferrari.

The ticket you were given will cite the specific statute you were charged with violating. Read the particular Florida statute carefully to make sure that you were correctly cited.

Assuming the poster was cited for FS 316.155 (which used to have an exception if the failure to signal didn't affect any vehicle nearby), didn't the officer notice your HAND signal??? FS 316.156.

The fact the officer didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen, and given that 3 patrol cars came to oogle your F car, it shouldn't be too hard to convince the judge/hearing officer the officers were probably just not paying attention! (and given it was such a BS ticket, just the excuse to have you found not guilty)

    Regards,
    Jerry
