I have come across a collection of photograhs by the well known Maserati man Hans Matti in Switzerland ( I think he had a tipo 26 or something) of a post war spider with what may be a Motto body, borranis... but what I dont think are Italian taillights... And it french registred at the back is csribbled "4 CL" Has anyone seen or heard of this car??

the car is unknown to me!
But: Hans Matti is more a Bugatti- and Alfa -man, although he owns the Tipo 26 #1510!

    Ciao!

I think hans matti took the picture which i have inherited through rob box.. I think he himself has written 4CL on the back. Looking at wheelbase i dont know .. But it certainly has Huge Drums .. Can you take a close look at the wheels? I think they could well be the same as a 4 cl.. But i am a rookie on pre war cars..

OK, can be possible - but the size of the brake-drums alone does not indicate a prewar-single seater!

Maserati had two single-seater cars converted to sportscars and entered them in the late 40ies in various races - but this cars looked both completly different.

    Ciao!
