    Hi again everyone,

While I'm arranging for my potential purchase of my first FCar, I thought about the switch from Leaded to Unleaded that occurred in the 80s (as I remember).

Anyway, does anything have to be done to a 308 engine to allow it to run better on Unleaded gas? Should I worry about getting a "lead additive" to add to the gas?

Similar subject. I'm up in Denver (the mile high city). They add Ethanol to the gas here to help with the emissions. Will the Ethanol be worrysome to put in the car?

Surely this topic must have come up before.

Sorry, should have made myself clear. I havent yet got a 308, I'm looking at at 308GT4, but its a 75. I was just wondering if the early model 308s including the early GT4s needed anything in regards to leaded vs. unleaded gas.

    Thanks,

I wouldn't worry about it unless you intend to race the car. The valve seats in a 308 are pretty darned hard. If you have driven it so much as to cause the seats to wear to the point where a valve adjustment can't remedy the problem, it will probably be ready for a top-end job anyway. Moral: Just drive it. Worry later, if ever.
