Unlocking a cell phone

    I have a Palm One Treo 600 that a friend of mine wants to buy. My service is with Cingular and his is with T-Mobile. How do I make sure the phone is "unlocked" before I ship it to him?

    Electronics wizards help out if you can....

    I was going to say use the key but you may have a more efficient way.
