I have noticed if you are driving with roof down in hot sunny weather the track pad and haptic control on the left of the steering wheel become very unresponsive. It is a capacitive not pressure control device so it may be just be sensitive to temperature ? Is that a thing others have experienced ?

Could be due to increased sweat on the fingertips, since you mention top down, hot/sunny. Moisture can affect the behavior of capacitive sensors.
