    My barn, mainly....

    What are you looking for?

Buying a Ferrari wreck, however, is a bad idea.......

You'll have to beat the omniscient Shaunnessey(sp?), even if you have one in your own back yard.

Thank for that photos. I'm only interested in non-restored Ferraris, because when i will be older i want to buy one. Any problems with it?

If you're serious, you need some education first. Wrecked Ferraris from the 1970's onwards cost way more in parts and labor to restore than their value (with a few exceptions). These are parts cars.

Even the vintage 12's will set you back more than they're worth, although there are models you can come out on. These wrecks run hundreds of thousands of dollars, and you'll spend a few more hundreds of thousands to restore them, and then get a million or two when you sell it. Maybe. Again, you'd better know what you're doing. Tom S. is the king of this.

If you aren't rich and want a Ferrari, I suggest you look at the 308/Mondial series, get a running car with a good engine and be handy with tools. If you do your own work, especially belt and water pump changes, you can have a nice running car for under $30k.

Be aware that ANY Ferrari has the potential to set you back big bucks, so it's really not the best car for people without some disposable income. Any beater Ferrari will cost more in the long run, but at least you can be driving while you do the restoration.

    Ken,

I'm not entirely sure he wants to restore it? He mentioned a Rat Ferrari, which I understand to mean one that looks rough but runs. In which case it would be cheaper to buy a good one and 'distress' it, than buy a basket case and try and get it running!

Funny you should post these pics - I know this car well. The former owner (before Tom Shaugnnessy bought it) offered it for sale here in New Hampshire and I had a chance to view the car up-close: its a 195 Inter, Originally a 1951 Turin Show car that was painted gold, it was the second one ever made by Touring and was the FIRST car with this type of Columbo V-12 ever made.

When the PO bought it, the car was red. SO after several years of use, the PO decided to start a restoration but couldn't finish due to finances. Doing an older car 'right', depending on its needs, is a big, BIG $$$$$ operation. Michael Sheehan's website offers some interesting articles regarding the financial pitfalls involved with these types of cars. Recommended reading.

So first i'd like to say, i'm serious, i'm young, and i'm not rich and I want to ever own Ferrari. I'm stunned that there are many, really many people which earn so much money that they can buy new Ferrari or second hand Ferrari (but which cost $100 000+). For me it's unreal, impossible....Ferrari Enzo....omg....what is it?...yeaah, that's the car which i know from some pictures...
Ok, you can have for a lot of $$$ 250 GTO replica (250 GTO is my favourite)...but why? It's not a Ferrari, it's only replica....I don't care if I have rusty, vintage, not shiny Ferrari but I want to ever enjoy the feel that i have my own Ferrari...
So i asked where can i buy rusty, vintage, not shiny Ferrari....

    What's RAT...? Look down :)
